Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
I guess it's worth a discussion
I read in a totally unreliable, "friend-of-a-friend" type rumor from Wolves Chat that MIN is fielding offers for Beasley. I don't buy it, but it is interesting because of so many issues:
1. Can Beasley suddenly play SF, or at least do so in this offense?
2. How would Love feel about losing PF minutes to Beasley?
3. Doesn't Beasley fit the mold of "high-upside" players that Kahn seems to be trying to acquire?
4. Would Beasley even have any value, since we got him for cap space and a couple seconds, and other teams had cap space to offer too?
5. Kahn claimed that one reason we passed on Cousins was character-over-upside. Sure it was a deal with a price that we couldn't turn down, but isn't Beasley the opposite?

If the deal is good enough, sure.
Number 4 is the biggest reason why I doubt it though.

Re: Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
nah, I truly believe that Khan wants to see what Beasley can do. Put him at SF, which Beasley himself claims to like best, and roll with it this year.
Darko / Pek
Love (30) / Beasley (18)
Beasley (14) / Johnson (28) / Webster (6)
Beasley still gets at least half of his minutes as a PF, but starts the game as a SF. I don't think it will be much of an issue.

Has Kahn actually claimed this? The only reason I've heard him give is redundancy with the other bigs on the roster at the time. I've never heard him say he chose character over upside at #4. There's been heavy message board/media speculation that's what he did, but I haven't seen anything from Kahn claiming that.

Idk why we would. I doubt we can get much value for him around the league considering Miami couldn't...

I think I remember hearing the Kahn was interested in Beasley earlier in the season before the trade deadline. So I don't think he will be traded untill we they see what he can do.

Probably, but I can't see them accepting anything that would be offered.

Miami got exactly what they WANTED for Beasley. Could they have gotten more talent for Beasley? Absolutely, but what they wanted was absolutely no guaranteed salary back in return so they could sign the big 3.
I've seen this perception numerous times since we got him and it's completely false and we got him over other teams because we had exactly what they wanted... cap space and non-guaranteed 2nd round picks.

Re: Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
I dont' see the team dealing him simply because I think they know that at some point they need to get lucky. Whether it be via the lottery or a trade that turns out heavily in our favor, we need something hugely positive to help make that huge leap to being a playoff contender. Beasley's trade has to be viewed by the team as possibly a trade that could be a huge return on investment so I think they'll want to know exactly what they have be for they move on from it.
Unless the experiment at SF is a disaster, I have to think that Love and Beasley will play a lot of minutes together at the expense of the Websters, Johnsons and Brewers of the world.

From what I remember they were trying to trade him at the deadline for any good player to pair with Wade because they were afraid he'd leave. They tried to get Amare with him and they couldn't.

Re: Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
Yeah but its not like Amare was being given away. The Suns were playing for the post-season. A trade them would have messed up everything they had going for them and a lot of that was Amare who decided to come back and play for a contract.

MIA could have requested the cap space, and future 1sts or top euro prospects rather than settling for 2nds.

Re: Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
I don't think there is any way Kahn trades him before seeing what he has got.
From what Kahn has said, he thinks he might be able to become the Wolves scoring 'leader' / go to guy. No way he trades that potential away... he has far more value to us at the moment then anything we could get back. Beas does have #1 scorer talent; if he gets his brain together. I'm sure Rambis is interested in seeing what he can get out of him, there is no downside to giving him 30 minutes a game to prove he is Batman, and not Robin (to use his fathers metaphor)

I'd love to buy a ferrari for $100, but it's not going to happen.

Re: Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
At the moment we'd take offers for absolutely anyone, don't sleep on the Kahn! But I think other GMs have settled on Beas in Minny for the time being and moved on. Ofcourse once the season begins that will change, especially if he starts putting up a few 20 &10 nights and there are no dramas.

Re: Would MIN take offers for Beasley?
there is no reason we should push a trade of beasley right now, his stock is still extremely low, and the fact that we got him for nothing is all the more reason to see if he pans out.
