Love this acquisition. Think we should hire a coach to work with him for one month on the art of stealing bases - what's Ricky Henderson doing? Could be this season, next(more likely) or instructional league.

2 triples, a double, and a homer for Gose since the trade (1/8 walk to K ratio though). The raw skills are there. I could live with the K's if he improves his base running instincts and develops some pop over the next few years.

Re: The Anthony Gose thread
I read an article on Aroldis Chapman on ESPN, and it got me thinking about a secondary motive behind this trade. That is, the Jays really aren't ready to compete for a few years - the advertised goal is, in my opinion, too soon. 2012? Rome wasn't built in one day, and neither can the Jays' farm system. The Jays need high impact prospects at almost every position - and most importantly - we need them all to peak in and around the same time.
Chapman is an amazing prospect who is forcing his way into the major leagues for a pennant contender this year. The same way I have worries about Arencibia coming to the major leagues too early (as the rest of the system is yet to "catch up" to him), It would have been a tragedy to have Chapman come up and give high impact seasons for a losing team, or worse - being forced to keep him playing below his talent in AAA because it fits the franchise plans.
Brett Wallace is ready for the major leagues - sticking in the minor leagues was doing nothing anymore but hurting his value. However, the Jays were not ready for him yet - a good prospect he was, but he was ready too soon - Gose is a hit or miss prospect, but his time frame fits the franchise's plans to the tee, and thus I see a possible motivation behind the trade.

I'd really like to see Rickey or maybe even Raines get with Gose and work on base stealing skills. He has to get his steal % over 80 if he's going to make it.
He seems to have so much tools but he's so unrefined at this point.

He's a 24 year old man. Let's treat him that way and stop yer worrying...

Chapman isn't forcing his way up at all. He should have been given at least a couple of years in the minors for seasoning as a starter and to get him to work on his offspeed stuff. Instead they pulled the plug on him after one month and moved him to the bullpen so that he can make the big leagues faster and show the fans that they didn't spend 30 million on nothing. Its a terrible move from an organization that has proven a complete inability to manage young arms, Chapman could have been what Brandon Morrow is today and probably a little better but he'll end up flaming out in the bullpen

Wouldn't go that far. I think the reason why Chapman went to the Reds instead of the Jays was that the Reds promised him a shot at the major leagues this year. Still, I agree with you that Chapman didn't force anyone's hand by pitching well.

+1. Good post. Not sure about the italics.

So....what is then?
Can you afford a trip to Florida? Baseball has a lot of great stats, but this sort of call is all about scouting.

I would love it if it was, but his % doesn't need to be quite that high. I think your average player needs around 75% to be a positive contribution, and high volume guys can go lower because of the defensive shift they cause.
