Bigby to have surgery.

He'll at least make the PUP, meaning he can't play until week six I believe. It's possibly season ending.

Get ready, Burnett! Excited to see what this guy can do, Bigby's injury troubles continue. If Burnett is the player they think he is, Bigby will never start for the Pack again anyways...

Bigby is such a knob.

This really hurts our depth. I'm glad on one hand that it clears the way for Burnett to start but I absolutely hate what it does to our depth.

Bigby is a clown for not having himself healthy after this long of a layoff. Well, Burnett better be ready and we better not having any injuries at safety.

This is terrible news.

If Burnett doesn't pan out or one of him/Collins (who has been injury prone in the past) gets hurt then we are VERY weak at safety.

I think Burnett was going to be a better player than Bigby this year anyway (especially in coverage where Bigby sucked, which is more important in today's NFL than hard hitting out of a safety), but if either of those two go down, then I think there is a MAJOR dropoff to Blackmon and Martin.

I like Blackmon, but his knee really worries me. Didn't like the way it buckled on a routine plant last time.

I imagine I'm more comfortable with Peprah as an emergency option than most here are, though. Who else would be ahead of him? Martin? Bush (please no)?

Defensive back related -- who's Shields going to have to beat out to make the team? One of Bush/Lee/Underwood?

Lee and Underwood are locks. If Harris isn't on the PUP (which I don't expect him to given he'd have to miss 6 weeks), then I think he would have to beat out Bush for sure. I can see them keeping 6 DB this year and I predict Shields to make the team with Bush cut.

Safety depth is now obviously Collins and Burnett have the front runners for starting then Blackmon, Martin, Peprah and Levine behind them. I think obviously Peprah and Levine aren't even assured to make the team but if Bigby goes on IR then I think one of them would have to make the team for sure.

This is one of the areas that Ted failed to really address in the draft. I have been pining for a young corner in the first round for the last three years. I liked Brandon Flowers last year. Hopefully next year, this, along with OLB will be addressed through the draft seeing as that is the only way Ted seems to address things...

He traded up for a safety this year. I don't see what Bigby has to do with corners.

Ted also takes BPA regardless of position or need so yeah, we will only get a corner or OLB in the draft if the right value is there. We did get it with Burnett.

As for Bigby, it is now being reported that this is a scoping procedure rather than any sort of full out major surgery so this might not be as bad as initially feared.

Awful news. I was hopping Burnett would get a chance to start, but not due to injury. Bigby, for all his faults, would have still been an important backup/alternate. Safety depth is a big problem now.

Bigby says he's going in for a clean up on ankle and doesn't expect it to be season ending Said ankle didn't bother him that much offseason

And the question remains: why the F was this not done in the offseason? It's not like he just hurt it in the conditioning test, he had to have known there was something wrong there.

Bigby said it wasn't bothering him during the off season, that being said though if he had been in camp for OTA he probably would have had the surgery done then and be mostly/fully recovered by now. Definitely makes him a dumbass.

Bigby said he thought that it was only a matter of cutting away some scar tissue, but joked, "unless they find a nail."

What an idiot.
