Bears are letting Ayanbadejo walk because of the contract he is looking for.

We will still have the best special teams in the league, although he was one of our main leaders out there. Despite the Bears bad overall performance this past year they still find a way to land good field position for themselves and give bad field position to their opponents.

We are going to miss a key part of our special teams but I still think we will succeed next year. I am going to miss Ayanbadejo.

I loved this guy, but he wanted to be more than just special teams. With the resigning of Briggs and Williams waiting in the wings, there's no chance for Brenden to play LB.

He's one of my faves on the team, I hope we're not making a mistake by letting him go.

Cliff Levingston isn't too broken up about this. He was a great special teamer but we'll find a way to make up for his loss.

Hey, maybe his brother is still available ?

I'll miss the guy - he fired up the crowd with the muscle poses and flair. That being said, special team guys are infinitely replaceable.

The only thing that bothers me about this is that from what I saw of him at Linebacker, he was pretty decent(of course this is the Pro Bowl and Preseason) and I kind of wished we gave him more time there but oh well. I hope he does well.

According to Ayanbadejo in today's Sun-Times, he isn't neccessarily gone. Still, it's more than likely...

Meanwhile, special-teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo was in Baltimore on Tuesday night mulling contract offers from the Ravens and New York Jets. The Bears announced on their Web site that a four-year offer to Ayanbadejo had been rescinded Monday when he traveled to New York.

''Their offer is still on the table,'' Ayanbadejo said. ''They still want me to come back. I wasn't upset [when that came out], but I don't think it was fair. I played for $500,000, and I never complained. I'm about to triple that. I never complained when I was a Pro Bowler. I never put a deadline to give me this money or else.

''Basically, it comes down to these three teams, and I am going to give the Bears the chance to match my best offer.''

Thank you! I'm glad someone is with me on this one! You're telling me Angelo & Phillips couldn't pony up this for a pro-bowler??? A classy guy WHO WANTS TO BE HERE! I hope Angelo gets his (ala KARMA), he's totally f-ed with this team and this town long enough.

I'm completely with you NLK.

BA was a unique player.

Not quite a linebacker-not big enough, not enough power.
Not quite a defensive back-obviously too big for this position.
Not quite a defensive lineman-see linebacker comment.

But, with all those things holding him back he makes for a perfect special teams player.

An agile, big, fast football player.

I don't remember a special teams play when AB wasn't around the ball at the time of the impact. He's hard to block and hes so quick and fast. Great hands and great vision, oh man I'm going to miss this guy.

All respect to Ayanbedejo, but I think Jamar Williams could be our new ST stud, but nothing like AB.

BA may not have been more than a S/T player, but I recall seeing him multiple times this year and last season to make the game saving tackle on what could've been a big return by the opponents. I hope you're right on Jamar Williams.

My money's on Darrell McClover taking the BA role next year. #58 on your scorecard but #1 in your heart. Liked what I saw last yr.

If they don't use Jamar Williams as a ST stud, then they are wasting him.

Hes a talented player and he could start for lots of teams. I like his speed, his power, all I need is to see his football IQ and I'd be really sold on him.
