KOC deserves his new contract. My goal in life is to out live Jerry Sloan as coach of the Utah Jazz so I can celebrate his leaving the team. I have to admit that last year was one of Sloan's better efforts as head coach, but over-all in the past 10 years his coaching has been worse than better. Maybe last year started a new trend for the old geezer.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

You must have a terrible life. I hate to break it to you, but there are only three or four coaches in the NBA that are better than Jerry. Doc Rivers, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Rick Adelman are the only guys I think have a legitimate argument - maybe Pat Riley if he returns.

The Utah Jazz will be the Utah Jazz for another season!
Did I mention the day Sloan confirms he will coach again is my favourite sports related day of the year?

I love the way Coach makes his critics feel they have to be kind of gracious!

I am going to give Sloan a chance this season........
I just hope he's going to give our young guys (Hayward, Miles, Fes, if we re-sign him) a bigger role this year....... And doesn't rely on Bell, like a crutch.......
Extending KOC was a no-brainer.......

I guess you believe because a coach is experienced that he is a good coach. I like young innovative coaches, such as the coach at Butler. Doc Rivers is not a good coach he simply had veteran experienced players that won championship in spite of him. Bad coaches can win championships simply see Barry Switzer of the Dallas Cowboys. Adelman and Jackson are the only two I consider a good coach from your old geezer list.
I consider Byron Scott a very good coach and would have loved him to coach the Jazz.

Wow, Byron Scott is horrible. Adelman is also not very good. I would say Phil Jackson is as great as they say, but I have yet to see him do anything with anything less than the absolute best player in the league at any time.
Being young and willing to look like a fool because you dont know any better means innovative I guess. Hmm

The one thing you get with a Jerry Sloan team is you can almost guarantee they will be competive. They may not have the talent to get them past the elite, but if they listen to Jerry and buy into his system, they will win a lot of games and put themselves in a position to take advantage and make a run in the playoffs every year.

I almost wish we'd fire Sloan and hire Flip Saunders, just so people could see how badly they underrated Jerry these many years.

Without Jerry Sloan over the past 10 years, the Jazz would probably have been moved to Charlotte, Vancouver, and Oklahoma City by now, if not dissolved completely.

Re: KOC and Sloan contracts extended
Lots of good points above.
This.
Isnt it the only thing we should expect from our team? I mean, of course we should expect them to win it all, but the only thing I dont accept is having a team that doesnt care. And that is something that we will never see from The Jazz while Sloan is in charge.
Thats why I respect him so much, and why I love The Jazz.
Regards.

So, how was my remark a personal attack, while this wasn't?

Everyone just shut the hell up and talk about basketball and not posters.

Thought things were a little looser around here. But fair enough.
HolyToledo's opinions about basketball fail -- particularly his thoughts on Jerry Sloan.

Re: KOC and Sloan contracts extended
Yeah, Sloan is considered highly amongst basketball types. I think the .500 season was the season people really realized it.
