Just for discussions and debating sake, what would you guys say to OJ Mayo as Reke's backcourt mate in the future. It's not likely to happen, but a fan could dream. I think it would be a great fit.

Hell no. Tyreke is to ball dominant and oj mayo is a great scorer but also needs the ball in his hands. I think the ideal fit for tyreke is a guy who can handle the ball to relieve some pressure from tyreke bring it up the court and is a good-great shooter. A better version of cisco would be perfect in my opinion. Someone who doesn't need plays run for him but can come off screens and hit open shots to spread the floor.

I think he's an ideal backcourt mate, but the player at small forward would have to primarily be a catch and shoot type that is comfortable barely touching the ball.

^^that didn't work out so well with Martin Last season, the fact is that Evans needs another ball handler in the lineup with him to make the offense work smoothly otherwise it becomes stagnant. Thats actually why mayo would be such a good fit because he's capable of distributing the ball as well as scoring on or off ball.

first off how would we get him. the whole kings lineup is fine, maybe not Landry lol 6.5 rebounds in 37 minutes per game from a power forward. when Martin came back he cursed the team i stopped watchin after all star break cuz why waste my time? Mayo would screw up all the young players growth.

i think the perfect fit for Tyreke would be player like Avery Bradley who will complete him offensevley with shooting but more defensively! he also a player without ego and doesn't need the ball in his hand much.
also Kirk Hinrich would be a nice fit, the Kings had a chance to bring both Avery Bradley and Kirk Hinrich if instead of Wizards they were made the draft day trade with the Bulls who bring the Wizards both Hinrich and the #18 pick, too bad!

if not mayo then how would harden pair with reke. Harden would come at a cheaper (but not cheap) cost than mayo. He is also a less ball dominant player but is capable of handling the ball to allow for more variety on offense. As long as he kept developing his 3 shot he could be the ideal fit but what would the kings be willing to part with to obtain him?

The reason KMart didn't play well with Tyreke was he was injured. 2 years ago KMart shot %42% from 3 but shot below 33% last year. Injury.

And just for the record if he was healthy Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan finish dead last in the standings their first year together.

Martin was a panic move by the Maloofs and would have kept pressure off of Tyreke and the big men. Maybe Casspi or Garcia can turn into that guy who is an assassin from outside to keep the paint open but it may take the draft.

Martin was dealt simply because he didn't want to be here. He played well below what he was paid and his attitude SUCKED. Kevin moved himself! He was happy to go as well so lets not say this was a knee jerk reaction to the team losing. It was clear this team is Reke's and Kevin didn't like it. If you want to believe another story that's your business. Frail Yellow's ego was crushed and he pouted his way out of town!

Now OJ Mayo could work. I am not familiar enough with him to make a judgement one way or another but it would need to be clear to him he's a 3rd option. If he can buy into such a role (which I'm of the belief he won't until much later in his career like a Jim Jackson) then yes he could fit.

I just think the move right now would be a bit risky unless the Grizz are going to give him away like the Heat did Michael Beasley.

That was only part of the reason.

cdt3's reasoning is also valid. Martin's off shooting hand was still bothering him after the recovery. His unusual shooting mechanics relies on his off hand more than others. His shot was very erratic, it's very uncharacteristic for a shooter like Martin to shoot badly. Martin's confidence was an all time low when his alleged "sweet spot" shots were not converting. A shooting slump. And Martin continued this slump in Houston as well. (Not as bad in Sacramento but he was still averaging low %s that most people were not accustomed to see).

I'm with ICMTM. Martin had the chance to gel with Tyreke, and it was clear he wasn't making the effort with his chucking and no defense. Besides, he doesn't fit with the new tough direction of the team anyway. We wanted tough guys for years, and we finally got them! Y'all should be happy!

As far as Mayo, I like him, but again I agree with ICMTM. I don't think he would accept more of a sidekick role, especially when he's looked at as one the upcoming stars of the league, but then again, LeBron's fine with being Mr. Sidekick...

OJ is too competitive to join other great players. He wants to compete against them,not with them. OJ and Evans backcourt is scary though.

i actually thought steve blake would've been a perfect fit with reke, too bad we didnt try to sign him before the kobe's did....in my mind either him or reddick would've been perfect really.

Morrow or Redick would have been amazing for us. I still can't believe we didn't make an offer seeing how cheap the Nets got Morrow for.
