OT: NBA League Pass Broadband
Alright, so this fall I will be in college in Chicago where Comcast Sports Net is not offered. I get ESPN, TNT, and WGN, but no CSN. If I buy NBA League Pass broadband to get the games I would miss but live in Chicago, will those games be blacked out? Thanks for the help. Really want to see all the games this year.

Re: OT: NBA League Pass Broadband
What I remember from living in Chicago is that if games were on TNT, ESPN, etc they were blacked out if the Bulls were playing at home on CSN. Not sure why. I would hope that the NBA League Pass allows you to watch whatever you want though. I'm actually looking into getting it this year but maybe after half way thru the season.

How do you not get CSN living in Chicago?

Because I will be living in a college dorm where I only get select channels.

Even if local games are blacked out you can always get a VPN (plenty to choose from) to circumvent blackout rules.

Question (not worthy of a new topic):
I am looking to change my time warner cable provider, because it only offers one HD league pass channel. What is the best provider for NBA League pass in HD? Is it DirecTV, dishTV, etc..
Thanks (sorry for highjacking the thread)

Another option would be for you to pick up a Sling Box and leave it plugged in at someone's house that does get CSN Chicago. Then you'd be able to stream the games over the Internet to your computer or even your phone.

Genius machine. Never heard of it. Sounds like exactly something I can use. Thanks a lot.

the league pass is worth it. You get all the games except the ones that are televised "nationally" which includes games in NBA TV, ESPN, & TNT.

Re: OT: NBA League Pass Broadband
Yeah, I just called Comcast and they said it is $199 for the season and if you get it early it will be $169.
If you just want half the season it is $109
And if you get it in March it is $40.
Also Comcast doesn't offer CSN Chicago here in Houston, so I would probably have to switch my service to Direct TV. But then I would lose all of my WW II stuff from the military channel.
Honestly depending on when the schedule comes out next Tuesday and how much we are televlsed, I may get it. If we are on NBA TV, TNT, ESPN, ABC 25+ times then I see no need for me to get it until March when it is virtually cheap and when the games matter more.

note that if you already have it, you can try to negotiate the price down, it definitely worked for the sunday ticket for several of us , just call and tell them you want to cancel and they might lower the price.

Honestly I'm probably going to go with the Sling Box. Reviews look good and hooking up my cable box at home to that thing should yield good channels on my PC.

Re: OT: NBA League Pass Broadband
If you decide not to purchase anything, there's always free online sites that will stream live NBA games, every game everyday. I personally know of two such sites. I could message you them if you want.
I don't have cable/satellite at home so I always just stream the games when I'm home away from college. The quality isn't HD but at least it's free.
EDIT: Oh yea not just Bulls games by the way -- I meant all NBA games.

You should protest the college. I bet you would get it if there's enough interest. It's ridiculous to live in CHI and not have CSN.

If you're in the Chicago market or anywhere 100-150 miles around it though (i forget the exact amount), the Bulls games will be blacked out. They go by IP address so the blackout is dynamic based on where you are accessing the games so if you travel to LA, then the Lakers & Clippers games are blacked out, but, the Bulls will not be.
However, if it's only the CSN games you need, if you know someone that has Comcast in the Chicago area that will let you use their @Comcast.net email address, then you may be able to see them free on Bulls.com. At the end of this season, CSN started streaming the Bulls games through there for free and that worked pretty good. They haven't confirmed that they're doing it again, but, I would expect them to.
If you got the money though, League Pass is awesome. I've purchased it the last two seasons and it's well worth it. If you do buy it, do it through your cable or satellite company as you then get the online access free. If you buy it online, you have to pay extra for the TV portion.

yeah there is a pretty reliable site that i use to watch the games. its sometimes crappy quality, but if ur poor and cant afford league pass then its better than watching the box score change / listen to the game.

You can watch the games online with a Comcast e-mail address? I already have one of those. Are you sure you don't need to be on comcast provided internet?
