How about Mcgrady and Shaq?

Post#1 » by Shocker00 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 11:16 am

Mcgrady was a very good player a couple years ago. He is a risk but I would rather take a chance on him for cheap rather than over pay for Matthews. I think we could get both Shaq and Mcgrady on 2yr contracts. I think Mcgrady might be a good season player and Shaq could help us in the playoffs in a half court game against the Lakers.

If Tmac were willing to play for the MLE then yes. But hell no to the Shaqtus. He's like a beat up old car you drive just trying to squeeze out every possible mile.

Shaq for the min or LLE, which he'll agree on if only nobody else wants him
T-Mac for at most 3-4 mil per year

The idea is to take on vets who haven't helped teams in four years and are injury prone?

This is what we really need: more washed up vets for a team going nowhere.

Ya and while were at it why don't we go get Iverson too. I can see it now...T-Mac, Shaq and Iverson coming off the bench for the Jazz...we would pass up Boston and the Spurs as the NBA retirement home.

Neither one comes here unless they either get substantially paid better by the Jazz or they have no other place to go. Worth a try if they want to sign one year contracts which I doubt they will do.

No way in hell Shaq will sign with us. He's got offers at LA and Miami, and an offer for 5 mil from Atlanta.

T-Mac... I don't think anyone really knows what's going on with him. He started his run with the Knicks well, but then the knee issues came up again. I think at this point with the injury, he's too inconsistant to be relied upon for good product in anywhere close to 82 games and the playoffs, so frankly, I'd take a consistant backup SG over T-Mac so we can get into our Jan/Feb groove.

I'd pass on T-Mac. If it didn't work with Adelman I doubt it'd work with Sloan.

McGrady at the Vet's minimum seems like a very good risk. The Utah Jazz have certainly had characters worse than Tracy McGrady. He handled the departure from Houston decently, and he seemed to mind his manners in New York.

I would be only concerned with what he can do on the floor. If he is at 65% and willing to earn playing time, then I say he is a terrific backup until he proves otherwise. He is a pretty decent defender if he still has his legs.
