O.T Jays Catcher Arencibia

Post#1 » by basketball420 » Sat Aug 7, 2010 7:41 pm

Maybe one of the best debuts in Jays if not baseball history..Arencibia hit a Home run on the first pitch he faced...he is 4 - 4, 2 HR's, a double a single, 3 RBI, and is now a triple away from hitting for the cycle...anyway another thing promising about the Jays

Good times to be a Jays fan. Gose will be up in a few years, Hech looks good and a lot of pitchers with promise too. Hopefully Snider stays healthy next year and puts up a good season

except her was a JP pick.

anyways, moving this to the Jays' board and leaving a shadow. its a good way to introduce some on-the-fence baseball fans to the Jays board

As much as he rocked with the bat...

... would I be wrong in saying that he was a large reason why the pitchers gave up 11 runs? :)

Hehe, just trying to keep him a little grounded :P
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

It's not his fault that Mills and Purcey couldn't locate any of their pitches.

If that was the case..I think by his showing today, he should be good enough to DH right?! :D

His defence still needs work. He only threw out 24% of runners in AAA. Not good. Not a lot of base stealing these days I suppose. Id say the catcher does have a part in how much runs are given up. Veteran catchers call a better game and help locate pitches better. Anyone gonna tell me that a pitcher wouldnt rather have Molina behind the player at this point?

The Jays have such a bright future. Probably the next team to win anything in this city. Funny thing is they were the last team to win anything either (I don't consider the argos and the CFL a major league)

What in incredible debut. On his first HR, I was in the concession line so that was a bit of a dissapointment. But the other one was great- he hit it the other way.

In the 7th when he came up the croud was chanting JP JP... on every pitch he faced then booed when he flied out.

I was at the game....what a debut. Felt great for the guy. Honestly, I doubt anyone even dreams of having a first major league game like that, and he's won over the fans 100% now.

Well I would rather keep Molina to guide JP on the D side of things. We already know he can swing a bat. We should put Buck on waivers later on and see if anybody is willing to budge.

Keith Law, July 03, 2010, on JP Arencibia: "I don't see him any differently than I did, say, 18 months ago: Most likely a fringe starter, could just hold the spot warm for d'Arnaud."

Keith Law, August 08, 2010, on JP Arencibia: "At worst a solid average everyday C."
