Maybe iguodala and lou for caron butler and a 2nd round pick. And if caron doesn't fit our system let him walk or resign him for a short contract. What do you guys think? Either that or use him as trade bait to get a big. Maybe emeka?

So you're proposing a series of downgrades? Dala for Butler, Butler for Emeka... then maybe we trade Emeka for Rashard Lewis?

I think you stick with McGee just for the pure fact of him being a young center who shows a lot of potential. Like I said though I didn't know their center sitaution other than McGee and depending on what it was you might have to take a look at Young. Wall - Arenas - Young - Blatche seems pretty rough to stop from scoring.

You can put to bed any interest the Wiz have in dealing McGee for a bench wing player. The Wizards center situation is as follows: McGee is the starter, Hilton Armstrong is the back-up, Kevin Seraphin is the prospect. Blatche is a PF, who will not get minutes at the center position. The very reason you want to trade Young for McGee is the very reason the Wiz will not trade McGee for Young. It's a pretty bad trade for the Wiz.

On to the next one... what about Marcin Gortat? Still young, boards, defends, locked into a reasonable contract (if he's getting minutes). I wouldn't be mad to see a deal for him based around Young or (gasp) Speights, and I could definitely see either one of those guys being very productive in Orlando playing next to Dwight.

If there is one thing Gortat does not do it's defend, did you watch the Magic vs Celtics series?

Not a big Gorat fan, unless its like a Kapono + 2nd for him to give Orl some finacial flexibility... maybe Kapono/Smith/2nd...

Don't want to move Speights or Young to get him.

Same for me, he seems like a guy who mentally isn't totally with it on the defensive end.

What? oO Gortat is not a defensive-minded player? Did you even watched play for the last 2 seasons? Guess not, if you talk such BS (which almost exploded my mind). If he's not one of the good defensive centers in the league, than what who the hell is? You probably think that Spreights or turbo-hustler-scorpion J-Smith, huh? If you dont have any clue about a player (or you just look at his stats - probable, or maybe look at stats in NBA LIVE), than at least dont talk crap.

The truth is that Gortat is better defensively than ANY of our bigs. ANY. And probably rebounds better too, I guess. He's actually only good at defending, cause his offensive skills are poor (or even non-existent). Which would fit PERFECTLY in 76ers rotation. Hawes, Spreights, GI Joe-Smith, Battie - they cant defend even theyre shadows. So really - Gortat? Oh he would be worth some trading.

Im not neither a Gortat or Orlando fan, but seriously - when I read on this forum how Brand will probably ressurect and grab 20 rebs any night, or Smith being the future (because he's a hustler - how many times on this board it was mentioned?), and Hawes going to explode defensively with Collins FO-SHO, than I think Im gonna puke. No objectivity is present on this forum - only this jabbering how the new 76ers gonna dominate the league (cause they have youth & talent & Holiday).

Ughhhhhh, why Im still here?!
Wacht out, one of Allen Iverson fans.

Don't judge me. Only Jebus can.

Yup, easily better than any of our bigs on defense and on the boards. And while his offensive game is certainly lacking, he's very strong in the pick and roll. Sets good picks, does a good job of diving to the basket, and is a strong finisher once he gets there.

Thanks Wydmuch your opinion about Gortat I agree with, but NOT your opinion about this forum having low basketball sense. Guys that posted for years have been banned for attacking other posters- heed some advice. I don't know a better Sixers board right now.

Wydmuch are you serious? Stop talking out of your behind with that nonsense.

And name one person here that has said that the Sixers are gonna "dominate"(and don't try to twist it, I check this forum all the time)

Don't worry, I'll wait.

Don, thats why I dont attack particular users, I just ... throw the brick into the mass. When I wrote my earlier post, Im sure that many will know that Im refering to them. No worry, no need to call out anyone.

SmittyTheGreat, Im not serious with the dominance of the Sixers - this was cleary a maliciousness. Nobody said literally that Sixers will dominate, but when I read 3/4 of the posts about our players, I got the feeling that we have the most complete team in the whole NBA.
Im definitly not joking about Smith, Spreights, etc. etc.. If you do read all the topics, you cant deny that those things are written. "Is Holiday gonna be a TOP 10 PG next year" is one of more recent examples. Or "Are we one big man away from contending?". oO Obviously, Im not saying that EVERYONE on the board talk nonsense, because that aint true, BUT I cant stand comments like:
"Hawes has potential to be an elite center. He kind of reminds me of Pau Gasol with a splash of Tim Duncan. With flashes of dominance in the post and the ability to spread the floor, I don't see why not." . I mean, WHAT THE HELL? And I could find in every topic such comments about Turner/Holiday/Hawes/Spreights, even Elton Brand, which is just waiting to take on his back the Sixers franchise to the finals (<--- this is sarcasm - dont force me to search that post on the forum).

Gortat is bad defensively, where did I say Hawes was better? Gortat gets caught in bad positions every time I see him play. Fabricate much?

This is exactly the kind of thing that destroys threads. Instead of listing opinions about basketball, these become a test of who can out assh**le one another with their personal opinions of other posters. Who wants to read that? Is that educational or informative for anyone who is a Sixer or hoops fan? Not likely.

This whole discussion is moot. No way Orlando deals Gortat for Young or Speights or both. They are looking to compete deep into the playoffs - what do you think makes more sense for them? Keeping a decent backup center (in a league with very few of them) or picking up what amounts to a couple of prospects? (Young's development notwithstanding, basically because they don't really need a SF/PF that badly, I believe they already have one in Rashard). There is basically zero chance Orlando would deal Gortat when they're thinking playoffs, unless they got a legit starting PF in return so that they could shift Rashard down to SF where he belongs. They're not going to deal him for prospect backups. So unless Iguodala is involved or they suddenly go out of their minds and decide that it would make sense to absorb Brand or the slight possibility they might want Nocioni (and his fairly massive deal) I frankly don't see why Orlando would be interested at all.

I think either of those guys would be a bigger help than Gortat for Orlando. He can't play next to Howard very effectively, so all that's left is scraps in terms of minutes. I think they can get by with a lesser playing backing Dwight. He's a nice player to have around for when Dwight misses a game or gets into foul trouble, but the fact is that he plays 13 mpg and makes the full MLE.

You put Speights next to Dwight and I think he'd be a very effective player. His defense and rebounding suddenly becomes less of a problem, while his offense could be a big plus for them. He also allows them to put a much bigger lineup on the floor, with Rashard moving to the 3.

If it's Young instead of Speights, then they get a decent sized upgrade over what they have at the 3.

Either one of these guys would get more playing time on the Magic than Gortat does, and neither comes with a longterm contract.

Assuming Wallace doesn't try to stay around for 2 seasons, dumping Nocioni looks great.
