The Number of Minimum Wins that The Raptors Will Achieve

Post#1 » by killerbs » Sun Aug 8, 2010 4:33 pm

http://nbadynastytorontoraptors.blogspo ... ptors.html

So it doesn't make sense that the Raptors will win only 30 games in 10-11 or even only 35.

As I see it 35 will be the absolute minimum that the Raptors win in 10-11 barring any significant injuries. My sense of it is that the number will exceed last season's win total of 40.

35 min? Exceed 40?? This team is not a near .500 team. 35 wins is the best case senario for this team.

The minimum should be about 15 wins and the max will be about 30.

C'mon top 5 pic.

I don't see how this team wins 40+ games unless every other team in the league is not nearly as good as they appear to be or all of our role players somehow take major steps towards being allstars.

I put the over/under on this team at 28.5

"The Number of Minimum Wins that the Raptors Will Achieve" makes my head hurt.

I think a minimum win means the team wins by 1 point since that is the smallest scoring margin a team can have to earn a win.

I think the Raptors will have 3 minimum wins this season.

Minimum: 12 wins?

Realistically, maybe 20 wins?

I mean look at our starting 5. Can we compare our starting 5 to the worst teams from last year? Can we realistically say we are in better shape than those teams? We would really need a breakout season from Derozan or Bargnani to approach 30 wins. I mean we lost an All-Star level player and in the best-case scenario where Derozan or Bargnani plays at sub-All-Star level I don't think anyone can honestly say that we will be nearly as good as last year.

I'm optimistic about the young players' development but not about the team's record. We need a hell of a lot to go right to sniff 30 wins.

Minimum? I'd say 20 is fair. Max? Probably 35-40.

I like the stats and I hope their true. Realistically I don't think it's that far of a stretch. Who knew taking Iverson off the Sixers would make them a better team? Bosh is no Iverson, and at the beginning of the season he was definately a player who helped us win games. As the season went on though, after the Allstar game, Bosh fell in love with the jumper again, and in 4th quarters instead of trying to get his team the win, he kept shooting to try and get on track. I think if this team can play solid team defence and can rebound the ball, we can definately hit 35-40 wins and fight for a playoff spot.

One can always make the argument that Bosh made the Raptors better beyond the plain numbers. I do not happen to agree with this. I think at best he was neutral and possibly even endothermic to the Raptors team.

en·do·ther·mic (nd-thûrmk) also en·do·ther·mal (-ml)
adj.
1. Chemistry Characterized by or causing the absorption of heat; endoergic.
2. Biology Of or relating to an organism that generates heat to maintain its body temperature, typically above the temperature of its surroundings; warm-blooded.

Even if the stats are dubious the team should be better because Bosh won't be around to absorb heat from his teammates? Interesting theory. I guess we'd need to see some stats on player body temperatures with Bosh on and off the court?

Come on man, stats are a bunch of BS. If you actually WATCH the games like I do you'd see that Bosh absorbed a lot of heat from Bargnani last season. It explains why Bargs' rebounding numbers are so poor.

Andrea Bargnani will take us back to the promise land from whence he came from.
