Mock draft v4.0 is up
Posted today but basically completed over the weekend. 3 full rounds and it's based off personnel moves through Monday morning.
This one is the "what I expect will happen" mock, not the "what Mr. Risdon would do" version, which I'll post for fun here sometime pretty soon. They do not look anything alike right now.
I've got very solid info for about half the teams regarding their draft preferences. Some of the other teams are fairly easy to read. Some I'm a blind monkey throwing darts--unlike a lot of folks who do these I'll admit to not knowing everything about every team's draft decisions.
Note that I do not like to check out other mocks while I'm formulating mine, so any close resemblances are either:
1. Other people privy to the same info I have, or
2. Purely coincidental

haha, washington ethnic slurs.
I like my teams picks but i did read off of scout.com that chargers GM AJ Smith was in 'high praise' after attending the U of Miami pro day..obviously checking out Kenny Phillips.
Obviously you have very reliable sources but what is the story? and have you heard anything about the Chargers trying to trade some veterans for draft picks in the 2-4 rounds..where they currently have none?

Honestly I went back and forth with Phillips as that pick. It wouldn't surprise me. AJ Smith is not on my speed dial or anything, but I do think they're looking to move down 10-15 slots, and their pick is prime range for a team looking to trade up to get Brohm or Henne or a RB like Jones or Stewart, if he falls a little.

You're going to hear a lot about how some teams rate Mendenhall as high or higher than McFadden in the coming weeks. Trust me when I tell you the Pats are one of those teams, and I know they do no want to rely on Maroney staying healthy for 16 games as a workhorse back. It's not all that likely, but it's not a big reach either.

Where's Iceness Draft ? After reading this thread and hearing Mendenhall for the Pats I need to read this NOW !
Thanks Pax

Must be the first draft I've seen with Josh Johnson going to the Bears. Is there any insider info/merit/stuff to the pick or just what you see happening?

Wow, Derrick Harvey has certainly shot up while I wasn't paying attention. What caused that?
What's Jack Ikegwuonu's future? I know he interviewed at the combine despite the torn ACL. Somebody is going to take a chance on him, right? How high? He seemed to be a borderline 1st day selection before the unfortunate injury.

You don't see RB Jamaal Charles of Texas in the top 3 rounds ?
I thought he had a good showing in Indy to be a second round pick.
He very well could, just couldn't find a spot for him in this one. His fumbling and God-awful pass protection are enough reasons for him to drop. He does hold the Big 12 record for lost fumbles in a season.
RB stock and slotting after the first 3 is incredibly difficult to predict this year. Felix Jones could go to Dallas with one of their picks, but he could also fall to the top of the 3rd. Chris Johnson could go anywhere between 40 and 90, ditto Kevin Smith. The general impression I get is that teams are in no hurry to grab a RB early when other needs or more talented prospects at other positions (WR, T, and CB in this draft) are on the board. Call it the Ryan Grant/Willie Parker/Selvin Young factor.

Harvey will be overdrafted based on potential impact as a pass rusher in the same manner that Jamaal Anderson was last year. He's already a better overall player than Jarvis Moss, who played pretty well as a rookie as the #17 pick last year.
Ikegwuono is ideally suited for the compensatory selections at the top of Rounds 4 or 5, much the way Michael Bush was last year--potential top 40 talent but with a major injury that will likely cause him to miss his entire rookie year. I don't see teams willing to miss out on a year and possibly get nothing ever out of him any higher than that. FYI--Mario Manningham talked him up in interviews, so did James Hardy to a lesser extent. When one team interviewed Hardy the plays they broke down were against Wisconsin.
