the suns still owns his rights so either or its a win win situation. Italy will give him guaranteed money and Pt. If he skills get better than plus 1 for phx.

That's ok -- he didn't show much promise and he's already been injured. Wish EC would sign with an Italian team. >:(

I don't really care, he didn't show much at all and would of been a scrub for his entire career, imo.

He would've been a waste of a roster space anyway. Going overseas means he can hone his skills. Much rather sign a C or a veteran big.

Good news...I would him rather have consistent PT in Italy, than him rotting on our bench.

I would not be surprised if our FO had some involvement with this. I think it works for both sides.... and beats D-Leaguing it. Let him 'season' for a couple yrs. He remains an asset.

Even before this news, the Suns were admittedly looking for another veteran center and with Gani Lawal (drafted 46th overall) receiving a guaranteed contract from Phoenix, there would have been little room for Collins.

Interesting.... Are we going to break the tradition and have 14 guys inked up ??? Wow. This, is assuming they retain Janning, which I believe they will purely for practice relief for Nash. Put that gym-ratting boy-faced rook under the wing of Nash, and recent protoge Dragic and he may develope into a solid roll player one day.

Now just find that decent back up center (not named Collins)
What ? Me Worry ?

Suns second-round draft pick Dwayne Collins has decided to play in Italy this coming season rather than participate in training camp with Phoenix.

Collins was the 60th, and final, pick in June's NBA Draft.

He will sign with Cimberio Varese, Phoenix officials confirmed.

The Suns wanted the power forward to develop overseas while they retain his NBA rights.

There you go..........

Return to Phoenix Suns
