Are you kidding me?
Actually now that I think about it, you're absolutly right. Nobody improves when they come to the majors. They practice for life in the minors and majors and are who they are right when they arrive.
So Melky is DRASTICALLY going to improve his arm strength in the next few years? He is DRASTICALLY going to get faster so he gets better range in the field?
No, Melky is what he is. Those are his tools. He's got a decent throwing arm and average range in the field. Those aren't going to change. That's why he was a fringy prospect in our system. People like you to exagerrate what he is. He's a 4th outfielder at best, and one flukey year last year isn't going to change that. Shane Spencer, anybody?

Orrrrrrrrrr we sign Ichiro to big money and let Damon's or Matsui's contracts expire after 2 years.

Let Tabata prove himself next year in AA and the year after in AAA

He's 22. Give him a few years until you say that. Right now, yes he is a 4th OF at best. That's what I've been saying all along. Talk to people like Jitpal and Nyknstill who want to trade Abreu and have Melky and Freeking Linden in our outfield

when the F did I say Linden and Melky would start ?
Melky would get more time to progress while Linden can be a 4th OF option , dammit 34C stop misquoting what I say.

I'd like Ichiro, but at a reasonable price. But he's unlikely to get anything reasonable in a market like this, and he's going to get money he doesn't deserve. We don't need another overpaid OF who is leaving his prime when we sign them. I'd prefer a stopgap like Eric Byrnes.
I wonder if Mike Cameron would take a 1 year deal?

Either one of those guys starting is a bad idea.

Ichiro would probably cost too much and he would want too many years. Byrnes is an intriguing choice to be a guy to sign for 1-2 yr deal to hold that spot for Jose.

Do you not understand what tools are?
Melky has average tools. His position should be center field because of his below average bat for an outfielder, but he doesn't have the range to play a good centerfield. Thus, he is going to be relegated to one of the corners, where he doesn't belong, because his bat just isn't good enough.
Do you understand what a tweener is? That's what Melky is.
Do you want to wait until he is 25 to realize that he is a guy with below average tools who is unable to drive the ball consistently? This is why he wasn't a good prospect.

when the other team scores 14 runs while your "ace" is on the mound, you know your team sucks donkey balls
proven again, Wang just had a fluke year last year, just like Small did....he is nothing special, just has one good pitch which if he leaves high, its a goner (can you really trust that in the playoffs).....cant wait till this team gets some real pitchers

I understand what tools are. I've never heard the word tweener in baseball before but ok, I get where youre coming from. Look, you're not understanding where I am coming from. If you go to the SF trade discussion, everyone was saying Melky and Linden would be viable 3rd and 4th OF's for us. Reggie and I were the only ones shooting that down. I'm just saying, before you discount him as a possible starting outfielder down the line, remember he has the potential to hit around .320 in the majors. If you hit .320 you have a lineup spot on some ballclub, doesn't matter if you hit 10 HR's a year. Am I saying he is going to be a great outfielder? No, do I think he has the POTENTIAL TO BE A GOOD ONE? Yes.
Now let me say again that I am not trying to counter what you are saying. Go look at the SF Giants trade thread and you will realize what I am saying

Come on Kandi, it just wasn't his night.
He just pitched a 8 inning 2 hitter... give me a break.
