This sucks.

And its not the same case like the Wiz. Many NJ people think they are losing the team with the move to BK by itself, a name change just cements it. The Wiz is still Washingtons team, getting rid of "NJ" AND "Nets" really erases this team completely imo. I understand trying to disassociate themselves from the losing that the name carries but this is **** up and really unnecessary! They might as well be moving across the country. I'm pretty sure a lot of old Sonics fans dont cheer for the Thunder, its not their team and if the Nets change their name they wont be out team any more either.

They might as well just be an expansion team in BK and the team in NJ just shut down. I dont know if i can still be a fan of this team if this happens. I will always support the local guys and technically they will still be a local team, but honestly i'm not sure they will be my team. I've hated the Knicks all my life but i might develop even more hate for this new team in BK, very un cool Prokhy!!!! I thought the idea was to turn Knicks fans into NETS fans, not the other way around.

I cannot embrace a name change, even if it's a cool name.

I don't know if I will stop following the team or not, or become more of a casual fan, but to me it isn't as simple and a non issue as it can be spun.

It hits me in the heart as a die hard fan of this team, my allegience beginning back as far as Mookie as the starting point guard.
It's disrespect in the highest form.
Arrogance of an elitest who this team is nothing more then a vehicle for ulterior motives and an agenda, along with a play thing and bragging rights in Europe that the young Ruskie that came from nowhere is conquering American entertainment and culture in possibly the world's most famous and popular city.
I do know we are a small and select group though, that most fans of this team, which there aren't many of to start with came from the Kidd era, VC as well, which renders our opinions low on the totem pole and likely means those fans don't and won't care nearly as much if at all.

Hopefully he's just talking about the name changing as in the prefix, the location of the team, but to believe that at this point with the limited and vague information we have been given would be naive, overly optimistic and plain denial.

It really is just a huge kick in the nuts to us if it happens. It's basically saying, "hey, you guys are replaceable, no harm done".

This bullsh*t angers me, it saddens me, and if it goes through I really don't know how many of us will be left standing, if any at all.

I would like to see how much fun any of you would have with a bunch of bandwagon fans cheering beside you, and ballboys roaming and posting unrelated (Please Use More Appropriate Word) sh*t all over this board.`

GAh! IM **** PISSED.

logo looks kind of cool. I dont like the color schemes though, maybe its ok for the logo actually,, but i think the uniforms would suck based on those colors.

Sigh... This is kinda tough to swallow. Im trying to understand it but i just couldnt picture myself cheering for a team not named the Nets. My wife told me that if i was able to accept the move to Brooklyn, it should be easier for me to accept the name change, which is a good point, but it still hurts. It feels like someone is taking away something that belongs to me while im looking and i cant do anything about it. However, i will wait and see if Mik have something in store for us, maybe he'll change it because he thinks staying with the name will never beat the popularity of the Knicks so he might come up with something fresh and still kinda associated with NJ. How's Brooklyn Jerseys sound? Lol.

Anyways, since we're such a small group of an avid fan, i will leave my faith to you guys. If the majority of you guys, in the futre, decided to leave then i will leave as well. If most of you stays then you'll still see me posting here.

Like I said before, my most bitter moments came several years ago when we had groups in NJ trying to the keep the Nets here fighting against outsiders that wanted to take them away. That's when I thought they had a realistic chance of staying in NJ. Once Ratner's groups won, I knew everything would change. I'm surprised most of you guys didn't know this was going to happen. Or maybe most of us didn't want to believe it was going to happen.

Even though many of us will claim to not support the Nets or continue to support the Nets after this announcement, you won't know how you'll respond until they officially move away. This may sound weird but when they actually go to Brooklyn, most of us will go through the 5 stages of grief. 1) Denial 2) Anger 3) Bargaining 4) Depression 5) Acceptance. Whenever you lose something or someone that close to you, this is bound to happen. At this point, I'm already at 5 because like I said the time that it hurt the most for me was when they were sold and Ratner became the majority owner. No matter what I'll still have the pride of knowing that whatever their team name becomes, they will always be the Nets to me.

I think all of us just assumed they would keep it the Nets since a) we used to be the New York Nets and b) the Brooklyn Nets sounds good.

I always said I hoped they maintained the "Nets" part of their name... I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens, hopefully they don't change the team name to something (Please Use More Appropriate Word) like Bobcats.

I feel where you are coming from, I've been I diehard Nets fans since I was a kid but you have to realize there was no way this team could have survived here. Well maybe they could have survived but no prospered. I wish they could have stayed closer to home but the move was for the best and it's probably easier for me to get to games now with the mass transit.

The name change however is really going to be weird. Now I'm not saying that I'm going to start rooting for another team cause I won't but I really hope we keep the Nets name. I have too much time invested in watching these players develop (Brook, Favors, James, T-Will) to go switch to another team. I can't see myself cheering for the Knicks or Sixers and I like going to games so I'm not going to start rooting for the Jazz or something.

Do I hope Mik has a change of heart and keeps the Nets name yes but I'll get over it and root for my team.

Nice logo. But the Memphis Grizzlies colors?

I would expect them to either keep the red white and blue...

Or use colors found with other Brooklyn teams. Cyclones have the red white and blue I think...with some other colors added. The soccer team the Brooklyn Knights...not a bad name BTW....have this funk color combo....no idea what to call that metalic color.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooklyn_Knights

End of the day...I expect...Brooklyn Nets anyway.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
