I realize we almost traded him, but it's not like getting Diaw and Ty Chandler was admitting defeat. When healthy, Calderon is our best PG and quite a few would be happy to start him. So I definitely wouldn't say that Toronto has no interest in him. There's nothing really to suggest that. Just because Raptor fans rather rebuild and get some cap space than fight for a mid range lottery pick??
Judging by this thread, you guys don't really want to see Ford and/or Dunleavy traded. You basically have to ask yourselves
A. Who is the worst prospect you'd settle on if basically just swapping ending deals for even more useless ending deals (like Eddy Curry or Vlad Rad).
B. Who is the worst role player / most money you would take on for your ending deals??
If Collison and Lamar Odom are your answers to those two questions, you probably won't be thrilled at any potential Dunleavy/Ford deal.
NY and NJ seem like pretty ideal trade partners if you don't really care about losing Ford and/or Dunleavy and/or Murphy for ending deals, cap space, and a semi-decent prospect. Not sure what swings you like on NJ, but I'm sure some swap could be agreed upon. NY has a few decent veterans in Turiaf and Azubuike. Douglas could probably be made available too. I'm sure NY could raise TJ's value, which they might be interested in. Especially if losing the useless Curry.
Denver might be an interesting trade partner too with Kenyon and Ty Lawson.
I agree on Calderon being the Raps' best PG, but he could be on the trading block considering he's got some good trade value, and you guys are rebuilding. But I personally wouldn't want Calderon in Indiana, i'd prefer a much younger guy who can run the floor with our young wings, a long-term solution. I guess Toronto could experiment a Bargnani-Calderon duo, just like the Nowitzki-Nash duo back then in Dallas.
We want TJ and Dunleavy traded. The problem is, they don't have that much trading value and it seems we cannot find serious takers for them. It could end up keeping them til their contracts expire, which i think is better, considering the huge amount of money waiting at the end of next season.
To answer both of your questions, we're not gonna make a move just for the sake of making headlines. So i don't really see us trading for someone we're not gonna use. If we're going to make trades in exchange for our expirings, it would be for a serviceable PG, a defensive back-up big man and possibly a pick.
NO will keep Collison, and i don't think Odom is in Larry's radar.
Azubuike is another wingman, and seriously we don't need another one to clog up the position some more. They'd most likely keep Douglas as the primary back-up to Felton, he's impressive in his rookie season and there's really no need to ship him out. NJ doesn't have that much to offer, aside from one of their wings. We're not trading Murphy unless we're gonna have a starting PF in exchange, if we can explore on the possibility of acquiring a veteran starting PF and a young PG for Murphy and another expiring, that could be our best option, trading-wise.
Denver would most likely keep Lawson as the eventual replacement for the aging Billups, and seriously, i don't think we need K-Mart.
