fes yet.....?

Post#1 » by MeestR » Fri Aug 6, 2010 5:20 am

every day that goes by without word that utah has signed him to an extension, my hopes dwindle a little more that utah will have 2 7-footers on the roster at the same time. the earliest possible time tomic can come over is when fes's current contract is up. wish things would just get going so we fans can rejoice.

I'm not that worried about it. He's barely done enough for another to team to give him a short, small contract for his "potential." He'll be wearing th note come training camp.

The only thing Fes would do is go over to Europe. I think the main thing is the pending lockout from the NBA. If his agent thinks there will be a lockout he will take the qualifying offer and then maybe play in Europe during the lockout season.

Since the Jazz can match any offer I wouldn't mind him taking a multi-year offer that is small from another team so the Jazz can match. He has potential, but he has done so little I am not too worried about him going elsewhere.

Fes has 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists and 1 block, in Ukraine's last game against Bosnia in the qualifying round of the Euro championships, he didn't play in the first game....... Oh, and they lost......

I know it's a sig. But why would anyone in Utah want Sloan fired? Isn't he like your god? Isn't he the only reason why the Jazz make the playoffs...sure as hell ain't the roster. Not trolling, just curious as to why someone in Utah would want Sloan fired.

There were times when Sloan certainly deserved to be fired and would have if he worked for any other franchise. But the last few years he's been great...

I wonder what the hold up is with Fes? I would have thought he would have signed by now.

He's a great coach...... In the regular season........

But zero titles in over 20 years, with two of the best players ever? It's time for a change........

Sloan is definitely your coach if you want to finish between 3rd and 8th place in the conference and be eliminated in the playoffs in the first or second round.

 Are you seriously trying to argue that we'd have finished first or second and won the title recently, if only we'd dumped Jerry Sloan for Larry Brown or Maurice Cheeks or whoever the flavor of the moment is?

What I am saying is after 20 years don't be surprised with what you get. Sloan picks the players, helps assemble the team, and coaches the team. He has demonstrated the type of team he will have through a large sample set. Who knows what another coach would have done if he was as involved as Sloan.

I don't know what I will get but I know what I have.

i tend to agree. i appreciate the kind of coach sloan is. but you know what you get with him.

i just finished lhm's book and he has two paradigms he seems to have conflicting with the jazz. one is loyalty. be loyal to those who are loyal to you. treat employees right. the other is without risks, there are no rewards. lhm took several inadvisable risks in his life (the jazz for one...) and he worked his back off seeing that those risks paid off. his widow has promised that the jazz will win a 'ship someday and the organization will work to see that it gets done. but are you loyal or are you taking your appropriate risks?

anyway, whats the last day fes has to sign an extension?

Appropriate being the key word there, in my opinion. Giving up one of the best coaches of all time, with the hope that some other guy can come in and somehow be respected and get more out of the players than Jerry is the definition of an INappropriate risk, in my opinion.

Who would you replace Sloan with? Seems like musical chairs out there at other markets, and if you put in some uknown coach or rookie then you have no idea what you'll get. Getting beat by Jordan/Kobe over and over gets old but sometimes our lineup as bad as it is, Sloan still pulls off winning seasons and his offense playbook gives us a chance even with Ostertag/Keefe/Felton to Okur/Fesenko in the lineup today.

Anyway respect your opinion I'm not jumping on ya or anything but I'm glad Sloan is here. Other team boards would gladly take Sloan over what they have any day.

Fes doesn't have a true deadline to "sign an extension": he can sign a new contract with the Jazz at any time, accept the qualifying offer for the coming season until March 1 (unless the Jazz put an earlier deadline at the time of the offer) and become an unrestricted free agent in 2011, or not sign anything and sign somewhere in Europe instead, thus remaining a restricted free agent for the NBA.
