I'd much rather extend Dudley.

Actually, I think he moved them because he couldn't admit that Porter was a stupid choice for that squad. In the end, it worked out in our favor.

Yeah, they had to go because they weren't working out in under Porter's coaching.

I'm uncomfortable giving him a 4 year contract at his age unless the 4th year is a team option.

The numbers are around what was I thinking tho. If the 4th yr was a team option it would prolly be logical to just give him a flat 7.5m per season. Which works out to about 30m over 4 seasons if the team option is activated. 8.5m per would be the most I'd be willing to go to.

My main concern is that if he does his knee next season and he's signed to longer than that we are in a bit of trouble with Turk's contract on the books as well. Good chance the kind of contract I'm talking about would be over the MLE even after the 4th year since the MLE hasn't really increased all that much recently.

Unfortunately for him I don't see him being a very sort after commodity in free agency. At most he might decide to ring chase and go to a team cheaply. I think that's more likely then a team giving him 10+ Mill a season.

JRich at this age it too much of a risk to resign long term (I expect he's looking for his last long term deal). If we let him expire, his only value to us would be to resign for cheaper but we'd run into possible health risks and natural decline. He has much more value as an expiring contract where teams with huge payrolls looking to cut salaries would just let him expire.

meh. Full MLE for 5 seasons sounds fair to me. J-Rich gets long term security, and it doesnt eat up too much of our payroll. if he wants more cash, lessen the years, and increase the dough. Win-win situation.

re; four starters over 30 -

sounds funny, doesn't it. given we had all this youth last year and only Hill and Nash over 30 - but we have a situation where, if things go right, the starters may only be playing half the game

our young bench - and Sideshow - are the future

I see Frank's platooning of lineups being a real botheration to other teams. Just keep throwing fresh legs at them
