Most Americans really do like Canadians. Honest. Look at it like this: Texas cares more about Texan sports; New Yorkers follow New York; LA follows Los Angeles sports. Most Americans would jump at a chance for a Canadian vacation. And comedy? You have us beat, imo. Animation? - got us there too.

It's not that they resent us, but it's because we're irrelevant. We haven't been relevant since Carter left and when Vince was wearing a raptor uniform, when we were actually relevant, they broadcasted our games.

I live in VA and it's not just toronto that gets left out. Crappy teams like warriors and t-wolves are left out as well and the only time they get a little attention is when there is bad publicity surrounding them. Think about it, if a team sucks, why would they waste their time talking about them? They want a winner and we don't happen to be one. Just suck it up until we actually start winning.

Because we have a lot of whiny babies on message boards who get very sensitive, perceive anything remotely negative awesome personal slight and then overanylze it until it becomes a sickening annoyance? That probably causes them to hate all Canadians.

jays get a lot of respect down here as far as the raptors all you need to do is win.

Yeah if we were a better team/contenders we would get more exposure,
no doubt.
On the other If you were to compare The Raptors to an American team of equal skill set,
than yes it's true they do get talked about and we don't.

But really if we had some decent NBA personalities commentating locally who weren't just regurgitating and spewing such predictable and redundant information at us,
maybe we wouldn't need to look elsewhere.

To be fair, it does matter. A lot of americans are uneducated about Canada. Since American-born players dominate much of the sports scene in baseball and basketball, limited to no exposure in the US affects the raptors brand. If you know nothing about about the country or team in general through mass media than what's going to make it a selling point to any of these american-based athletes. One of the main reasons Bosh left as he stated, was because he wanted to play in front of family.

Is it a insecurity issue? Maybe for some. But I can see why some fans bring it up because it affects the raptors brand indirectly. Not much American players want to play here, and in Bosh's case, exposure in his home country was one of those reasons.

Its a catch 22 situation. This team needs exposure to attract players, but it wont get exposure if it sucks. The good players need to show up and take the chance. I dont like this victim stuff though.

Hell, take a look at what Terry Francona had to say. Hes in Toronto 10-20 days a year for a series vs the Jays. Hes been coming to Toronto for 6 years now. Its tough to combat that perception.

Ortiz wasn’t the only member of the Sox excited about the O’Neal signing. Manager Terry Francona inquired about O’Neal’s introductory press conference. When informed it will likely be Tuesday, Francona lamented that he would miss it. When told he could watch the press conference while the team is in Toronto, Francona wasn’t optimistic.

“Yeah,” he said. “I’ll be hearing about some hockey player.”

God damn that's ignorant, and ironic at the same time.

Anyway maybe it's because the Raptors are probably the worst team in basketball right now. How many times have you heard the American media talk about Baltimore Orioles this year? If you suck, you don't get talked about, simple.

Like someone else said imagine if we had a NFL team they would absolutely despise us 10x more, they've always painted us bad but then again if you ever watch World Cup and you see those idoits blabber their nonsense about it then you'll understand they talk **** about anything that aint american.

Ever watch TSN or Sportsnet? Do you hear much analysis about american teams? Even at the NHL trade deadline, its all about the 6 Canadian teams. If you want Toronto coverage, watch Canadian TV. Why the hell does anyone care if the americans pay attention to us? Its makes us look pathetic.

And honestly, i don't think americans hate us at all...they just don't care. Its like the Toronto-Vancouver rivalry. In Vancouver they love to rag on Toronto, but in Toronto, we didn't even realize there was a rivalry. We're too busy hating on Montreal.

Here is American media talking about Canada --- lots of hate.

Yea they arent, but they are doing ALOT better than most projected them to. I guess... moral victory and something to look forward to? :D Leading the league in Home Runs definitely helps exposure in the MLB media. It makes their games a little more exciting when you expect them to blast it deep.

The question is not why they hate us but should be why do we care at all?

I'd say most of you don't know anything about Americans. We don't resent you at all.

Cause whenever we get a chance at an American born player we turn our on them when we start to lose and mock them for the rest of their NBA careers!

When you figure out why they show Yankees/Bosox all the time, you will have your answer.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

My friends from the US come up here, and they always bring up how they hate it when they're watching the Sports stations (sports tickers), and they see a Canadian flag beside the athletes name.
