JRich, Clark and a pick swap would be sufficient, not sure why youre throwing the whole team at one player who Atlanta will be shopping. Its not like we have to convince them to trade him. Youth + Expirings = enough

Don't worry about it, it is a confusing business!

I think ATL would jump on that but we would never do it. I think you're massively overrating Josh Smith. He's not even the best big on his own team. Way too much for a knucklehead who struggles to get his own shot.

Take out Dudley and the 1sts and we have a deal.

Josh Smith is an all-star (should've been last season) and he's easily an 18ppg scorer next to Nash. He struggles to get his shot off, but he takes much smarter and higher percentage shots now. He may still make knucklehead mistakes but his FG% has risen every single season and is now shooting 50% from the floor while taking only 7 3PT field goals last season. This shows clear maturity and understanding of the game. What Lopez needs next to him is a guy who's versatile and that's what Smith is. With Lopez and Smith patrolling the paint on defense, we're looking at a pretty good defensive front line.

I'm not sure how willing the Hawks are to move Smith and his contract since they have approximately $15m worth of salary coming off the books after this season. But they also have Horford's extension coming up, which could see his salary at around $12m, so it's possible they could look at reducing payroll.

I think Iggy and Smith should be two guys we should be looking at for JRich's expiring.

You guys aren't getting Josh Smith without at the very least moving Robin Lopez and probably Dragic as well. You simply just don't have many assets that the Hawks would be interested in.

6th behind Malone, due to longevity

Michael Jordan behind Karl Malone?

Someone tell me this poster is a troll.

No interesting in cap relief? With Horford's extension coming up, can the Hawks afford to have Horford's new deal, JJ's max deal and Smith's deal in the books?

Yeah, we can. We have ~$15 mill coming off the books next year, and Smith doesn't actually make that much - at $12.5million he's very slightly underpaid. I mean, if cap relief entailed you taking Joe Johnson off our hands, I'd be interested, but not taking Smith for scraps.

Fair enough. JJ ain't going anywhere though. Just be happy he's no Elton Brand since JJ can still ball.

What about Josh Smith for Robin Lopez, J-Rich, and Earl Clark? I think that's approximately equivalent value.

Giving up Lopez would be tough but I'd do it

I'd list Rolo as an almost-untouchable. It's not easy to find decent young big man talent. Also, he's our only C so I wouldn't trade him for Smith.

JRich + EC + future lottery protected 1st?

Not interested, any trade with the Suns for Josh Smith would start with Robin Lopez.

hello everyone, i am new to the boards. I am a Suns fan since i was a kid, the era of Kevin Johnson.. I am Turkish, but as a die-hard fan, i would feel really offended to be consiedered or treated as a bandwagon guy since Hedo arrived, in fact i dislike Hedo a lil bit lol. I've been reading realgm forums for like 3-4 years, i tried to register then, but i could not coz they wouldn't accept any of my mail accounts. I just found out they do now, lol.

anyway, about the horford issue, i really do not believe hawks would let Smith go, and i dont believe Horford will see much time as a PF either. coz him moving to PF would mean someone having solid minutes as a C, and they do not have anyone that can take that responsibility. Their main backup as C, Zaza, is good for 10-15 mins, but not more. say, if Horford played PF for 5-6 mins last season, i believe it will be increased to 8-9 mins, at most.
They scared now

welcome, i think this is the big question. the new coach is implementing a new offense and has told horford that they want him to play more C. Any trade with the suns- everyone will be asking for robin lopez. I think the suns need to stay put and do a wait n see approach. they have enough talent to make a trade for someone great. its a matter of waiting.
