^ Think I mentioned this when we were doing the draft. Not the biggest fan of Jake The Snake. Plus I wouldn't rank him over any of the guys I have in the top 10.

He'd be number 2 on my list only to Perfect. He was easily a better wrestler than Snuka, Rhodes and Hall. And he was better on the mic than any of the guys you listed.

My list would be:

1. Mr. Perfect
2. Jake The Snake Roberts
3. Ricky The Dragon Steamboat
4. Rowdy Roddy Piper
5. Magnum TA
6. Owen Hart
7. Ted DiBiase
8. Arn Anderson
9. Paul Orndorff
10. Rick Rude

Take Dusty Rhodes off the list as he did win the NWA world title 3 times. Twice over Harley Race and once over Ric Flair

Easily a better wrestler then Snuka, Rhodes and Hall? I dunno man. Don't get me wrong Jake was good in the ring and his mic skills were good too, but to say he was easily better then all those 3? no way man. But your entitled to your opinion.

As far as him being better on the mic then all of the guys I listed. The two guys I listed at 9 and 10 (Rude and DiBiase) were better on the mic then Roberts.

That laugh alone was enough to put him over.

Jake was the best ever on the mic, and almost everyone says that - other wrestlers included. He was the only guy that could match Hogan and Warrior's intensity, yet not have to raise his voice once. In an era where all the greats were screaming their heads off on the mic (Hogan, Macho, Flair, Warrior), Jake would just speak and get his point across through the words he would use. Perfect example being:

You have Hogan and Demolition screaming their heads off for 2 minutes, and Jake just stands back and smirks the entire time. Then he comes on, speaks for about 15 seconds calmly, gets his point across and lets Hogan keep trying to get his point across.

Besides that, it's basically agreed upon among wrestlers in the business and fans of that era alike that had Jake stayed straight and didn't get into so much trouble with drugs and alcohol, he would've been an all-time great. And the fact that he was actually drunk during most of his matches speaks volumes about that. He had arguably the best gimmick in the era of gimmicks, he had the best mic skills, and his in-ring psychology was unmatched. He didn't have a great body, he wasn't overly athletic, but he had a great look and his matches were always different with his unique moveset. And besides Bret's build up to the Sharpshooter and Hogan's Big Boot to Leg Drop, Jake's Short Clotheline to the DDT stands out to me as one of the most iconic combos in wrestling history. Not only that, but when you look at Stone Cold Steve Austin, he's said that Jake was one of the biggest reasons he got into wrestling and one of his biggest influences. And the Texas "Rattlesnake" is actually a tribute to Jake. It's only fitting that Austin's explosion in popularity came from a promo that he cut on Jake himself.

Fast forward this video to about half-way through to hear opinions from other people in the business on Jake.

My vote goes to heel Jake (1991/1992), guys like DiBiase and Perfect at least were "the man" in other territories (AWA, Mid-South) Jake never got the chance (or squandered it by leaving for WCW)

NWA title and WCW title were different man. Same goes for Eastern Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling. They may have switched names and what not, but are considered to be different companies.

Not going to get into more of the Jake The Snake situation. I'll just leave it as he was great on the mic, one of the best. Was good in the ring as well, but overall my opinion is there were better out there. Maybe he belongs on a top 10 list, but not mine.

Oh boy. . .

Best part is I agree with him. Which event was this? Burn Down the Barn '07 or Blair Witch Slugfest '08? Looks more like the latter to me.

They say Ted Dibiase was supposed to win the belt at Wrestlemania 4 before problems between Savage and Honky Tonk Man caused the league to change their plans. It's a shame that never happened. I'd have to say Owen Hart was my favorite not to win and Dibiase second. Jake Roberts is my favorite to never win a single title.

I agree with everybody the OP mentioned and here's 3 more that I believe would have made solid World Champions if given the chance.
