Dolan Praises Walsh, Says Isiah Will Always Be Close

Post#1 » by K_ick_God » Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:42 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK, Aug. 11, 2010 – The following statement was released today by Madison Square Garden Executive Chairman, James L. Dolan:

"Although I'm disappointed that Isiah will not be working with the Knicks as a consultant, I continue to believe in his basketball knowledge, including his ability to judge talent. He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team. We wish him continued success at FIU. I also believe Donnie Walsh has done a terrific job since joining the Knicks and my tremendous respect for him has only grown since he's joined the organization. I'm confident that the work that Donnie, Coach Mike D'Antoni and their staffs have done this summer has the team poised for long-term success."

If he truly believed in Walsh he wouldn't have tried to hire Isaiah again...

So basically, this **** isn't over. Awesome. Isiah will be our GM one day. Dolan wants the guy around badly.

Also, this praising Walsh stuff is full of it. Nice timming, jackass.

Stop being a bunch of pessimistic pu$$ies. As long as we can do well with this team, this season, there will be no justification in bringing back Isiah.

This is what I have been saying man. Thomas has always been a adviser for Dolan. And that might not never change. He just tried to make it official this summer hopping on the FA wagon.

Sorry, I forgot, Dolan is a mentally and emotionally mature man that makes decisions after careful study and uses reason.

Honestly at this point as long as Isiah is never the GM or coach again I wont be mad. Ive accepted the fact that Dolan just loves the dude. So as long as Isiah isnt making trades and FA signings Im good. After the huge backlash of just hiring Isiah as a consultant Dolan really cant be THAT stupid to try and give him a job of any greater importance than that. There will seriously be riots.

So just move on people. No use fretting about Isiah every day. Hes going to be around so just accept it or cancel your fandom. Its whatever to me. Donnie is still in charge but Im not going to lie its going to be much easier when we hire a GM already. Until then anything can happen.

Seriously, does anyone not believe there is something really gay about this relationship?

How would any man be as devoted to another man as Dolan to Isiah, when you look at the last 7 years?

Statement looks like it has PR department written all over with the compliments to Donnie Walsh. We've loved what you've done for us so far Donnie, but Isiah will have the GM position as soon as April.

Well I read that part about him having strong ties to me and the team as a combination of defiance, saying something nice to his friend, almost like a farewell speech, and specifically mentioning his ability to judge talent (as if to say, that's why we were bringing him back).

I think he may also have been making sure that Melo or Paul or whomever hears it, which I sill think is why Isiah was coming back.

Saying he's close to Zeke is to be expected -- we already knew it and it is just fluff talk.

But he didn't have to give that endorsement of Walsh. He's telling the fans that Walsh has his support and that Isiah did not have anything to do with being unhappy about Walsh or replacing Walsh.

And the part about "he'll always have strong ties to me and I wish him the best" sounds pretty final to me. Yeah he likes him but he also already replaced and fired him and Dolan knows the team is on the verge of doing some big stuff because of what Walsh has done. Yeah this Isiah thing was stupid but that doesn't mean Dolan can't see the obvious.

I read it the opposite way but we'll just have to wait and see. I think it's pretty clear from the statement that the only role even Dolan would give Isiah is in advising the team on talent, not on making trades, managing the cap, etc.

Dolan is silly but he's not completely stupid -- he knows Isiah messed that stuff up badly and he doesn't want to destroy himself (as much as it seems that way sometimes).

I think there's zero chance that Isiah ever comes back in a final decision-making role. Zero!

But we'll just have to see.

I'm ready to put this behind us and get ready for a big improvement this year. I don't really care about Zeke and he's not going to knock me out of my enjoyment of the team and the good position we're in.

If he ever comes back, I'll worry about it then. As of now, I would bet anything he never makes the final calls on any trade or signing or salary cap decision. Never. If he comes back as a scout guy and controlling the draft even, I would not like it at all, but I can still live with it as long as we have a competent final decision maker like Walsh or a new guy he hires.

So, it's out of sight and out of mind for me for now. Don't let Isiah ruin your Knick Fan Life. Until further notice, the guy is not involved in running our team and I don't think he ever will be again.

End of story.
