Landry would actually be my pick of those 3........we need a junk yard dog type of 4. Someone who doesnt need the ball that much and can rebound like a fool (can we re-incarnate Dale or Antonio Davis somehow)

I don't think we're looking for anyone as good as Smith and Odom. I'm thinking someone who makes about what TJ does or less. someone we could trade for D Jones would be perfect for me.

Landry ain't a great rebounder, but Hibbert's boards will up to about 9 this season and maybe 10 or 11 if we bring in Landry. He ain't shotblocker but he will stay in front of his man unlike Murphy. Plus he is a great low-post scorer. Somethin we need next to Hibbert.

I think we could get Smith. They will need to cut costs to keep Horford, and they want to play him at the 4. They need a center and expirings.
IND trades
Foster
Ford
Rush
2011 1st
ATL trades
Smith
Bibby
I know it is terrible value for Smith, but it looks like they want to keep Horford and this trade gives them what they need a great bench player in Rush if Crawford leaves, a center to split minutes with Pachulia a stop-gap point in TJ who could be flipped for Calderon, next years 1st, and more than enuff money to resign Horford and Crawford without goin over the luxury tax.

no we had trouble off. rebounding. Murphy hurt that by standing around the perimeter all game.

Re: Some PFs Pacers should target
Don't rush it.
Here's what we need.
Essentials
Please don't bother if he isn't...
1. Solid help defender, athletic, runs the floor well. Hibs not the quickest so someone to watch his backside.
2.Aggressive rebounder. Always a problem for us and we just lost our best one.
3. Good at put backs. Can earn a living on scrap. We have some offense and a fair amount of shots will come off the rim from outside. A lot of plays run for other guys.
Bonus. We'll pay well if he...
4. Has a good mid-range game, or a thunderous drive.
5. Nasty attitude. likes to take a charge. Excites us with a timely block! Get the weak stuff outta here!
Since we are unwilling to part with much it has to be a guy whose team will have trouble holding on to or a draft pick.
We have some assets.
I vote we target Atlanta.
But you have my criteria. Who in the league best fits it?

we were 19th in the league at 41.5 per game BUT we gave up 46.6 which is 2nd to last

At this point, I'd just wait until next year's free agency and then try to steal Al Horford.

Re: Some PFs Pacers should target
We have some options but may have to risk something and the path isn't easy.
I think Atlanta knows Al will be expensive and like him best. If they can't resign him before years end they may deal Smith to prepare.
I think Atlanta will match all offers for Al.
I think it would be hard to part with the assets necessary to get Smith (likely start with Hib)
Do we over pay Landry ?
Move up in the draft?
Risk a trade for a young unproven like Favors?
Anyone else out there that could make us a contender?

Re: Some PFs Pacers should target
I will continue to be of the same mindset for PF that I was of the PG spot.
Make any and all calls. Gauge EVERYONE'S value. However, don't make a deal just to make a deal. Set your standards for a guy that can help the team long-term. If you can't get one of those guys, don't over-reach and make a Brian Cardinal type move (when the former Grizz owner asked his then GM why he wasn't making any moves while everyone else was signing, West allegedly picked up the phone, offered Cardinal's agent the full MLE for 5 years, and said agent accepted it immediately without even contacting Brian- West then told the owner "There, you happy now?).
We lucked out on the PG spot. I didn't realistically think that we would get Collison for so little. But, I know that if we bent and took on Mo Williams, Kirk Hinrich, or Jose Calderon, that it wouldn't make us much better now, and that it certainly wouldn't make us better for the future, but rather would likely slow us down and hinder us.
Same thing for the PF spot. Maybe we luck out and get a guy. Even if we don't, at least we'll find out what we have in Hansbrough, McRoberts, and Magnum Rolle.

and if not we can make a run at someone like Horford or Smith next year when we have cap room. in the meantime though we can afford to move D Jones for comparable talent in a bigger body if we can find a team that needs to move a big for a wing.

We can offer some big money to some good bigs in '11, since now we have young pieces we like in the backcourt.

Re: Some PFs Pacers should target
Posey for Nocioni? Andres could play PF for us, while Posey tops out at SF. They both expire the same time for right at the same amount of money. Not sure why Philly would consider it though.
I don't really see anything else out there.
Maybe Utah really hits the bricks and would take a Solo/2nd rounders for Paul Millsap offer? It would get Utah under the luxury tax this season, and just barely keep Indy out of it as well. I highly doubt they would give up a solid guy like Millsap for this little though. This is certainly pie in the sky, unlikely.

Andres = Undersized, Millsap = 6'8. I'm not a size Nazi Scott but how will they defend a guy like Tim Duncan, Garnett, Pau & Bosh? Playoffs teams automatically got us beat at the PF position unless Paul's a really good defender I'm quite confused on how that'd work.
