By what measure did Collison play average?
12 ppg, 5+ apg. That is pretty average to maybe better than average.
in 27.8 minutes.
18 players in the NBA averaged 12.3 points and 5.6 assists or greater last season.
Lebron
Wade
Paul
Nash
Deron
Rondo
Billups
Iggy
Westbrook
Rose
Tyreke
Stephen Curry
Baron Davis
BRandon Jennings
Parker
Collison
Dvin Harris
Arenas
Of that group, only 6 shot better FG% than Collison, only 4 had less turnovers.
Only 7 guys logged 16/7.3 or better per 36 minutes:
LeBron James
Deron Williams
Steve Nash
Chris Paul
Russell Westbrook
Baron Davis
Darren Collison
Russell and Baron shot 41.8% and 40.8% respectively, and 22 and 27 % from 3.
Only Paul turned the ball over less per 36.
Dude's numbers overall are nice.
So really, 12.4/5.7 on 47.7/40/85 in 27.8 minutes as a rookie PG is quite nice.
Good JOb Guys!

Collison's TS% compares to Reggie Miller's. He is a great decision maker and an efficient player. We are all pretty much ecstatic right now.

Plus he avg'd 19 ppg and 9.? assists as a starter when paul went down..he will be an allstar as early as 11-12 season and will be for a long time...congrats you just got an incredible steal and as a raptor fan we got out GM'd by a long shot....with $ to spend next year you are on the fast track to a very good team...congratulations once again...

Collison is an intriguing talent, but his assist numbers are inflated due to the "generous" scoring table in N.O.
Still, even with that in mind, he's a starting caliber PG who will make the game easier for your team. Grats!

I was about to post the same thing after watching the pacers.com highlight video of Collison.
Yeah, his numbers are inflated. They credited him for assists that wouldn't be called assists in any other city.
But, he still showed way more in the highlight video than we've seen from the PG spot since Mark Jackson.

Lol, hold on aminute.. he's a great young pg but to become an all star point guard in this league is a tall order.

In the East? Not so much...
Players like Mo Williams, Jameer Nelson have made/would have made the All-Star game these past two years. If Collison puts up starter numbers like those he put up as a starter in NO, I'd go as far as to say that he's a certainty for the ASG. Not only because of his stats but because he will have made Indiana a Much better team.

Re: WHat IND just stole!
Collisons assention to all star status will be driven by the success of the Pacers. If the Pacers make a quantum leap this year or next he could get there.
I think Collison is cut from the same mold as Hansbrough, Hibbert and Granger. Under rated coming out of college, intelligent, good work ethic. Guys like that will improve over the course of their careers. Hopefully they set the tone for younger guys like Greorge and Stephenson and this thing can grow into something special.

Congrats on the steal of Collison. I cant believe you get a verrrry nice young PG for Murphy. As a Cav fan who really wanted my team to find a way to get him I have to say F-You to Bird for pulling this one off. You guys are on the way with a core piece to a becoming a very good team now.

Well, you guys got the guy we wanted earlier in Ramon Sessions.
I'll stick with Collison now that we have him, though.

This team is going to be damn exciting to watch over the next few seasons.
Grangerous, Collison, Stephenson, Hibbert, George....just an overall fun roster full of high-potential young players.

Well, I think Rose and Rondo are pretty much locks now. And John Wall is getting so much hype he could get in the mix, maybe not this year yet but still. And I wouldn't go so far as to say that Collison makes Indiana's record that much better. It's a great move forward but it's not like he'll single-handedly makes you a playoff team. If anything he put up great numbers as a starter while losing most games.
