Walter Herrmann

Post#1 » by Rich4114 » Wed Aug 11, 2010 2:39 pm

Just saw a news site that says Walter Herrmann might be coming back to the NBA. Should we reunite him with the hammer???

I actually think we could really use him. We need better shooters on this team.

If we could move Boris and get some value in return then sign Fabio as T2's primary back up at the PF spot I would consider that a win.

A good win.

Herrmann is the man, man.
Agreed, moving Diaw and getting Walter to back-up would brighten up this (so far) crappy off-season. He will be back to being a fan favorite in no time.

I remember watching the dunk contest of our ACB league 7 years ago when all of a sudden Hermann did this:

Funnier dunk of all time.

Welcome back Hermann (he is one of my favourite players, and i was so happy when he was traded to the Bobcats and then played for Baskonia...)

Nothing. Once players had seen tape of him he's easily shut down and that bum cost us more chances at Kevin Durant, Al Hortford, Jeff Green or Greg Oden. Seriously because of him we won a lot of games we shouldn't have then traded him next year. Kudos!

I'm sure a lot will probably disagree, but not really. He hasn't shot a high percentage except the end of 2007 season when the Bobcats were already pretty far out of the playoffs. He gave us a few wins we didn't need. However his FG% has steadily declined since then and he doesn't shoot well at all. He plays a euro style of ball (no very well) and is too much of a defensive liability at the 3 and def at the 4. He doesn't rebound well for his size, but has decent handles for his size. No better than a 9th or 10th man on an NBA team.

Shoots the three ball pretty well from the corners. Very good at driving to the hoop if given space to use his length and "the claw". Fantastic at off ball/ball denial post defense.

He's shown he can play if he gets minutes. After that amazing run in 2007, he saw his minutes slashed to nothing (exactly 1 game over 18 minutes), and then got traded for Nazr Mohammed's bloated contract. He has barely gotten the chance to play since.

I still can't get over the fact that we wouldn't play him, and then traded him. He was like the only bright spot on that squad.

That was the time and place to do more with us but it just wasn't meant to be (I suppose). I do not see any reason to bring him back. We don't need nostalgia...we need a quality 1 and 5.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
