Hypo: Okur for James Posey and Darren Collison
I know that trade happens, but if you get a chance to place Okur instead of Murphy, would you do it?
I know that Utah lacks of big men, but I would consider that, esp. if we could get another big man.
Your thoughts?

OK, let's say New Jersey do agree to trade for him. Will you do it?
As for Okur injury - look at the Murphy injury history.

No one has ever recovered from Okur's injury.

Are you sure? I find that hard to believe that NOBODY has ever recovered from this type of injury. Different sport and person but David Beckham tore his achilles's tendon and it sure sounds like he is going to make a fine recovery. He relies more on running (and jumping compared to Okur). He is also thought to be past his prime. I just think that if a soccer player that late in his career can recover, why can't Okur?

^^^ That simply isn't true. People do recover from the injury. What is going to help Memo the most is that he was never particularly fast, which is an understatement. Most likely we will see more of the Memo from a few years ago, with more catching and shooting and less attempts at driving the lane.
Here's a link to a list of players who have injured their achilles. I don't know how certifiable or biased this list may be, but it's the best I've found.

Even if the other teams would do it, I wouldn't. Posey is just about useless, and I'm not trading a big man in Okur (who will likely play over 24 minutes once healthy) for a point guard who will play about 10 minutes behind Deron.

I probably would do it just because Collison would be a huuuuge trade chip. The Hornets really screwed the pooch on this one. They could've gotten faaaaar more for Collison than Ariza. At least a draft pick. Classic case of a team trying to appease their star players as soon as possible, just like Cleveland, and now they have nothing to show for it. The Jazz have done things right so far by being patient.

Jazz might do it as gives them talent in collison but it leaves shot on bigs. Other teams gets nothing in this deal. Right now Okur is cinsidered nothing in the trade market until he proves he is able to play again.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Do it. Collison (1.3 mil) + AKs expiring could net a real 3rd option behind Al and Dwill (or a shot blocker).

I think this might be C.J.'s contract year as well. If so, C.J. could ultimately become that third option behind D-Will and Al. After last years training camp D-Will said CJ was by far the best player at camp. We may all have seen a glimpse of that in the playoffs.

Re: Hypo: Okur for James Posey and Darren Collison
I'd just like to point out how funny RealGM's teaser was:
"Chris Paul has reinforcements in the form of Trevor Ariza." First of all, it's only one guy,
so it's not plural. Second of all... it's Trevor Ariza.
"John Stockton has reinforcements in the form of Arman Gilliam."
"Dirk Nowitzki has reinforcements in the form of Austin Croshere."
"Andre Iguodala has reinforcements in the form of Jason Kapono."
Mind-bogglingly atrocious deal for New Orleans. I want them to succeed for the sake of the city, but they're dumb as bricks. Happy trails, Chris Paul.

I think its sad to read that Okur is done, and we re considering trading him. Lets wait the start of season to see how he goes. I think he s more valuable to the Jazz than most of us are considering lately.

That's about what I thought. Trevor Ariza is supposed to keep Paul around?
Houston and the Pacers are the big winners here. Houston undoes the Ariza mistake and gets a decent rookie-contract guy in Lee; Pacers finally land a point guard.
On the losers' side, New Orleans trades their Chris Paul insurance for a guy who shoots worse than Morris Peterson and New Jersey just turned some cap space into Troy Murphy -- not quite what they had in mind for that cap room at the start of the summer.
