Around the NFL

Post#1 » by crkone » Wed Aug 4, 2010 7:54 pm

Thought I would start a thread about non-Packers or Favre related stuff.

Anyone remember hearing about Sergio Kindle and his narcolepsy during the draft?

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens rookie outside linebacker Sergio Kindle remains hospitalized with a fractured skull and will be transferred to a rehab hospital in Dallas next week, according to Ravens coach John Harbaugh.

"I spoke to him last night," Harbaugh said. "He's in great spirits."

The second-round draft pick from the University of Texas fell down two flights of stairs at a friend's house in Austin, Texas.

The Ravens have said that they view any contribution from Kindle this year as a bonus.

"He's very optimistic about his return," Harbaugh said. "We'll see how it goes."

Kindle remains unsigned while he continues to recover from his fall.

The Ravens have confirmed previously that Kindle suffers from narcolepsy, the sleeping disorder that may have been a factor in his injury.

Fell down 2 flights of stairs from narcolepsy. He does take medication for this and the team knew about it when they drafted him. Seems like its more serious than they expected.

that kindle is cringe inducing.

our secondary is injured right now it's sad. if the ravens can actually stay in it for the first half of the season, it's gonna be mostly on the offense.

a few years ago, typing that would have caused me to vomit on my keyboard

yes, he would on the offense i spoke of earlier. it's still crazy for a ravens team to win mostly because of their offense. even last year when their secondary was shaky, they were still better defensively than offensively

Wow, my head is spinning.

So, I went to high school with this kid as a freshman and a sophomore. He moved up from Miami to get out of some rough neighborhoods, had an aunt and uncle that lived in Madison. He loved basketball, we hit it off immediately, became best friends, essentially. Sick athlete, could jump out of the building, we played together fresh/soph year. His parents wanted him to come back at the end of his sophomore year, and a lot of us fought for him to stay. We failed, he went back to Miami. I last talked to him in college, when he had just had his first kid. Yesterday, I look him up to say hi, and come across this:

http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/MI97429/

Killed by a drunk driver when he was going out to grab some groceries. Leaves behind a wife and four kids.

I was floored, and I contacted one of my friends that lives in Oregon now, that was also great friends with him. He tracks his wife down and talks to her. One of her sons is a huge Oregon Ducks fans and my buddy has access to tickets, so they are going to meet up for a game. Kama's brother? Center for the Philadelphia Eagles (Jamaal Jackson). It's just a crazy world. I contacted her today as well to give my condolences.

Yahoo! Sports - Patriots quarterback Tom Brady caused a stir recently when he lost his cool on the practice field and called his offensive line a bunch of fat cows.

"Yeah, I know – it wasn't my finest moment," Brady said. "I got a little heated, and I was surprised that came out of my mouth. Someone said to me later, 'Tom, did you really call us fat cows in the huddle?' I started laughing. But at the time, it wasn't funny."

Brady has little patience for anything less than perfection. Especially as he enters the final year of his contract and attempts to make another run at a Super Bowl title.

"It's just so hard to win," he says. "It doesn't just happen. As you get older, you realize that, and you try to convince the young guys. You've got to pay the price."

I would be mad if I was Tom Brady too. If he gets hurt again how is he going to properly bang his insane hot wife? :P ... Oh... And there is that winning football games thing too, I guess.
