ESPN Predictions

Post#1 » by Klomp » Wed Aug 11, 2010 2:21 am

15 Minn. Timberwolves 20 62 .244 15 67 .183
The good news: Our committee of 93 says the Wolves will win 33 percent more games. The bad news: We think the Wolves will be the NBA's worst team. Even worse: Despite a roster with intriguing young talent, Wolves GM David Kahn has us utterly confused regarding how he plans to take Minnesota north in the standings.

I don't really believe we will be the worst team, some team always surprises you there but realistically. I don't see any team in the league that I can comfortably say we are better than.

?? What's the guy supposed to do?? He just got the job last summer, had to do some firings, hire a coach, redo pretty much the whole roster, and get rid of contracts to get cap space.

Only thing they got on us is our last two drafts (not taking Curry, which other teams passed on too not just us, and Cousins, which remains to be seen Johnson could be better), signing Ridnour & Darko (which I like), and trading away our 2nd round picks.

Warriors will be worse than us, I think we match up with the Kings but I say we're better.

The only reason Toronto is better than us is that they play in a much less talented conference being the east. When I say less talented there top 5 teams may be good but after that it is a toss up for the 6 7 8 spots all with losing records where in the west some teams with winning records wont make the playoffs

Durant just said Darko is one of best centers in the league. For once, I'm not being sarcastic in a tweet. #Twolves

They added Stoudemire, Boozer, Wall, Turner, and Favors. I'm not saying the East is as good the West, but it seems like they've been taking some steroids recently.

Ugh, another "Kahn has no direction" remark. I don't get it, I really don't. But whatever, everything's determined on the court anyway, so whatever the experts believe won't change much, but it's still annoying to read constantly.

Confused how he'll take us North in the standings?

Rubio, Love, Beasley, Johnson, Flynn are all under 23. Cap space. Draft picks.

I mean seriously, what's the guy supposed to do?? If you can't see how that teams going to get better than you don't watch basketball.

I'd be willing to bet that we'll be better than Sacramento this year. I think the talent is about equal between the teams, but I don't think they're going to have much success without a legitimate point guard. I don't think Westphal makes it through the year.

Now they're ranking best newcomers and worst newcomers.

The criteria for worst was: "Who will prove to be the worst acquisition of the offseason? We're not talking about the worst player per se but the one who will have the most negative impact or the most disappointing season, relative to expectations, price, etc. Or the player who will wear out his welcome first."

Beasley comes in at #4 somehow, even though he was acquired for virtually nothing and is only 23. How is does that make him the #4 worst acquisition?

Beasley: The former No. 2 overall pick is getting a fresh start in Minnesota. But while a change of scenery could be just what the troubled forward needs, you have to wonder about the fit. The Wolves lack both veteran leadership and frontcourt minutes -- two things Beasley will need to succeed.

I guess they think with Darko and Tolliver getting all the minutes Love and Beasley are SOL.
Typical ESPN.

Beasley's only 21.

Edit:

Also, those rankings are incredibly bad. Even for ESPN. Seriously, as bad as Beasley at 4 is, they also have Amare at 1, Boozer at 2, and Bosh tied for 5. Wow.
