Re: [Build a Team 4.0] Discussion Thread 2.0
Thank God Richard Jefferson got a new contract. Haha. I completely forgot about his new contract until I just checked Hoopshype and seen he was only getting 8.4 million this year. With a young guy like Wes as my only small forward, I wanted to get a veteran small forward to help him out. Jefferson has been around the league for a long time, played in big games, can score very well and has shown to be a deepball threat throughout his career. On this team, I expect him to return to being the good defensive player that separated him from other scoring small forwards.
PG: Derrick Rose
SG: Mikeal Pietrus
SF: Wes Johnson/Richard Jefferson (I might change who starts)
PF: Zach Randolph
C: Greg Oden/Marcin Gortat
Though I'm high on Wes Johnson and Greg Oden, those 2 are the biggest question marks on my team. Wes Johnson is a question mark because he is a rookie, but him being 22 right now is a plus. Greg Oden is another young, talented, and dominant player, but he is also an injury concern. With Gortat and Jefferson, I feel that I added the best possible backups. Both Gortat and Jefferson had played in big games in their career. The Denver Nuggets wouldn't miss a beat if either player had to step in and start. As they currently stand coming off the bench, they make my bench extremely lethal and possibly gives me the best bench in the league through 7 rounds.
Can I have some opinions on my team? I said what the plan was for my team throughout this thing, so I don't think I need to repeat it. I think I did a great job at covering all areas of the game with rebounding, shooting, defending, and scoring. I love my mixture of young players and veterans.

I can't imagine we get through 10 picks today, but by some chance we do get to pick #203 in the next nine hours or so, I will be at work so if someone could email me when I go on the clock I will email in my pick.

Thanks
Also if anyone is interested in trading up to pick #203, it is available.

Well my rankings are obviously much different. I cannot see a way where Flynn is better than Holiday, Lee is better than DeRozan, Lewis has better value or is going to be a better player than Batum in 1 years time, Boozer and Cousins arent that far off in terms of VALUE, and I would take Bynum over Gasol due to Gasol having one year left on his contract and getting paid(might get max). Also Bynum is very good in the post and defensively. Plus I have a full bench of young potential guys where you have one.
Also, Im sorry but you just sound mad now.

This team, imo, goes where Oden goes. Gortat is not a starting center, but is probably the best backup ( I know this cause I had him in my last BAT, and lest just say that didn't end well.
You have a very nice combination of slashers/post play/shooting with your team. You have two players who can get what they want at any time in Rose and Randolph. Pietrus is a good shooter, but to be safe you need to add another one because once he's cold, its a just in case.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a big fan of Johnson, even more so that I tried feverishly to trade up for him unsuccessfully. Just like you said he's young, but he's at a good age where youth and experience will be visible. Plus being on a team with Rose and Randolph, he's going to learn early about getting what you can get and how you're going to have to learn how to get your own.
I'm sorry, I just don't like Jefferson and have nothing good to say about him.

well i think we can both agree to put this behind us, i just wanted to show you when someone takes a shot at your team how it feels.

yup its done. but when you or a representative of your team asks you what anyone thinks of their team, dont get mad. I was just saying what I thought about a question asked.
with that said, its all behind. friends, buddies, pals, acquaintances, RealGMers, Knick fans, or w.e you want to be. were good.

Yes, you have to Draft a Coach within the 13 Rounds. It's why we extended it by 1 Round to accommodate people.

Okay. Thanks Mags. Do we have free agency after? I think a couple of players will fall off that I would like to sign.

Yes we have a FA period. Its a set date & time and when that time comes, its a free for all, a first come first serve process.

@Ra: Yep, see Smoke's post that's the setup. It's Auction Style. You get to post 3 Players on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
I was shocked when you picked him. He was soooooooooooo out of place on your Team.
