4 rebounds, 3 defensive, 1 offensive, 5 fouls commited, 5 fouls received, 1 stupidly swatted shot when he could just catch the ball.

I might go to the game on Sunday even though I have no desire to watch incredibly boring Russia team play Kiwis with their 6'6, 270 lbs PF.

Hey Rasho have you seen much of this kid? He reminds me too much of Darko in that he's not a great player and a lot of the hype about his potential comes from things he doesn't have any clue how to use on the court, although Mozgov's personality and attitude seem to be a lot better from the one russian interview I read with him.

Brunson: So what are you paid to do?
Hart: Run around like an idiot during the game and f*** s*** up!

Kaun is a guy that should end up in the NBA soon. I think the Cavs have his rights but he's a big, strong, mobile guy that would be an ideal off the bench type to provide some muscle, rebounding and defense.

Mozgov wishes he had Darko's skill level and court awareness.

I'm pretty sure most 7 footers to have ever played in the NBA wish they had Darko's skill level, but Mozgov's court awareness is even worse than Darko's? That's not unexpected, because I really don't expect much offensive competence from him other than finish some PnRs, but is disappointing, does he show any sense for the game at least at battling for rebounds or on the defensive end?

Yeah, Cavs should bring him over ASAP. He developed so much in these past two seasons with CSKA. Strong, decent athleticism, nice post skills, can finish with both hands. He'd be a starter on the Cavs easily and put up some nice stats.

I always get confused on this but does it count as a shot attempt if you get fouled in the act of shooting or do they just count the foul shots?

I see Mozgov's 2-8 shooting but 8-8 from the line and wonder if 4 of those misses were shots he was fouled on.

Meh, he's a good enough rebounder and PnR player, but he has no offense. He tried a post move on Milan Macvan, a 6'9" guy, and he airballed it. I felt awkward for him.

In NBA scoring, a miss on a foul does not count as a missed attempt.

Would all depend on his defense to see how he really did -- not worried about the misses from the field. The 8-8 is an encouraging sign. The guy clearly is not just a 7-foot big body. He moves really well and apparently can shoot the ball, at least in a streaky way. That's an intriguing package at least.

7 footers with his true size, mobility and who are not a total loss shooting the ball give you a lot to work with.

If D'Antoni breaks out the full-on SSOL system, Mosgov is never going to get the ball in the post with his back to the goal.

His poor IQ shows again. He came off the bench right now, played 30 seconds and got two fouls.

You don't want to watch this. The highlight of the game so far has been 5 seconds of Goran Dragic's girlfriend on screen.

don't mind rasho, he was just sore because russia was beating slovenia 17-4 (slovenia came back and is leading now though).

second half has just started.

edit: ugh, 11-0 run for slovenia to start the half. maybe rasho was right and this isn't worth watching

Lol, I'm not sore about anything, I'm well aware of their limitations. The fact of the matter is, Russia plays very unattractive style of basketball. Combine that with Slovenia's lack of organized system and you've got an ugly game.

Couple of things about Mozgov: his awareness really is poor. One of the Russian guards went in for a layup and instead of clearing out the lane, he stopped right underneath the basket so Brezec who has the vertical of an elephant blocked his weak layup.

On another occasion, he couldn't outmuscle Brezec for a post up because he positioned himself badly.

Just now, he goaltended a shot that had no chance of going in.
