Former Phoenix Suns first-round pick Alando Tucker signs with Lokomotiv Kuban
The University of Wisconsin's all-time leader in scoring and former first-round pick of the Phoenix Suns, Alando Tucker, will compete in the Russian Super League next season after signing a contract with Lokomotiv Kuban.
Tucker was a 2006-07 First Team AP All-American and averaged 19.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 2.0 apg for the Badgers during his first season before the Suns organization tabbed the small forward with its first round pick (29th overall) in the 2007 draft.
Unfortunately for the 6-foot-6, 205-pound Tucker, playing time never materialized with Phoenix and the player himself competing mostly for the Suns' D-League affiliates, the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and the Iowa Energy.
In his third NBA season, Phoenix traded Tucker, along with cash and a future second-round draft pick, to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for point guard Jason Hart.
The Timberwolves waived Tucker in March of 2010.
Appearing in a combined 51 games with Phoenix and Minnesota, Tucker averaged 4.1 ppg and 1.0 rpg in an average of 8.4 minutes per contest.
After a short stint with Gallitos de Isabela of the Puerto Rican BSN league, Tucker now joins Lionel Chalmers, a former second-round pick of the Los Angeles Clippers, and James Gist, a second-round pick of the San Antonia Spurs, on the Lokomotiv Kuban roster.
