Yes you put together a nice collection of talent, and you have a good eye for that talent as well as a keen sense of when to net that type of player at what time...BUT...I just can't see a team built like this having success in the league. Maybe it's just me, but there are so many elements to a build...and you beat the horse with one of them.
This is 4.0 and we still haven't got this right yet. I know you can't please everybody, but its up to those individuals to step up their game and make this as realistic as possible. Waiting til the 13th round to select the leader of your "playoff" team is basically making a mockery of the fact that we introduced coaches into the player pool itself. If nobody was going to take it seriously, then why bother? It would be one thing I guess if you limited the coach availability to only the 30 that coach in the game today, but instead we decided..."hire whoever the heck you want".
I guess I really can't blame anyone for not concerning themselves with the believability of the competition, but this is REALGM...and this BAT gives us the closest thing possible to being that.
I think my team is playoff bound based on a few things.
1. Our post up game. I have the biggest team in the West. We can back you down and I surrounded them with shooters. This is not the same west as it was. Its much smaller and my team can take advantage.
2. Our defense. I havent looked at the other team but we have to be one of the top defense teams in the league. 3 of my guys in my starting lineup are GREAT defensively. One(DeRozan) is above average and the other is average(Cousins). I also sorrounded them with great defensive players off the bench(Blair, Jerebko, Thabeet)
3. Variety of scoring. We have a variety of scorers. We have slashers(Casspi, Batum, DeRozan, etc), we have three point shooters(Casspi, Batum, Holiday, Roddy B.), we have the post up as mentioned, mid range, etc.
4. We have depth. We have a 10 man rotation but 12 rotation players. That is a good problem and will help when the season starts.
Lastly on the coaching matter, I have thought about this coach since my Jrue Holiday pick. He may be currently out of the NBA or an assistant but he is a great teacher. I think he fits this team perfectly. So I have thought of the coach and even though I have solid backup options I chose to not pick a hall of fame coach and instead get a great player, who can help later.
