Have you read Simmons book? The guy doesn't even call Stockton great and would take Payton over him. :lol:

Stockton will always be the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA. If he had played in a big market and done what he did here, he would be undoubtedly much more respected. It's fine. Those of us who witnessed his play know better.

I love stockton, everything about his game I respect. His team first attitude, selflessness, hell, he is my favorite all time NBA player. However, Magic was the best to play PG, his combination of size, skill, speed was ridiculous. Like some have said, its not horrible to be considered 2nd to magic.

It's too easy to get lost in semantics when it comes to this stuff. "Magic was the better player but Stockton was the better PG," type stuff always comes off as a cheap to me.

How come? Magic was more versatile, but Stockton was better at just about everything the PG position requires.
