The same TJ Ford that got benched behind such worldbeaters as Earl Watson and AJ Price, and is now about to get bought out? Hell no.

Bibby is done and I don't trust giving Teague all the minutes. I would bring him in.

Ford on a 1 year deal would be great....they just have to get rid of Bibby 1st.

Yes to Ford.,,,, The Hornets practically gave away Darren Collison, that trade makes me sick given the dismal PG situation in Atlanta.

Getting Ariza while dumping Posey isn't exactly giving away. They turned the 21st pick in the draft into a starting SF. Last year Utah dumped the #20 (Eric Maynor) pick mid-season to cut cap. Ariza is roughly equivalent to Marvin.
I give New Orleans credit for moving a player at a high value point. The Hawks have had this opportunity in the past with Al Harrington, Josh Childress, and even now at PF and have never been proactive instead holding on to both players until their hand is forced and they have to settle. It could come back to bite New Orleans if Paul walks at the end of his deal, but they're trying to improve now and starting SF and another shooter (Bellineli trade) are more helpful than backup PG right now.

I was thinking that same thing that Ariza=Marvin. Ariza's contract=Marvin's contract approximately. So we could have gotten Collison and Posey for Marvin... Someone would have come calling before the trade deadline for one of our 3 PG's.

Re: TJ Ford about to be bought out by Indy
Buy outs not a done deal.
He's not liking the idea and clearly we'd much rather trade him for SOMETHING.
He doesn't suck, just not a good fit here anymore. A good back up at a not good price.
We'd like to trade him, possibly with a wing- Dunleavy, Possey, maybe Rush or D Jones for a piece we need more, or picks, exemptions etc.
BTW I covet your 4s and will look for trades to help us both out all the way to free agency ...where I'm sure we would love to blow Ford , Duns, and Fosters expiring cash on your guy.

Re: TJ Ford about to be bought out by Indy
Indy isn't trying to just pay off Ford to the leave. The rumor is that they offering something in the 5M range instead of his full 8.5M contract. Ford isn't leaving much on the table especially considering the uncertainty of making that up from another team.
Indiana would be willing to trade him for nothing, but only a few teams can do that under the rules and we aren't one of them.

OK. Let's deal. We trade you Ford; what would you give in return. Dollars need to match; however, we will throw in picks.

^There's about a $3 million difference. Are you sure you'd pay that much?
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Re: TJ Ford about to be bought out by Indy
The difference in salaries is too great for a straight up deal to work under the cap rules so it is a moot point. Also, the extra 3M this year would result in luxury tax which negates a lot of the savings for next year.

Re: TJ Ford about to be bought out by Indy
What about (Bibby + Evans) for (TJ + McRoberts). The trade works on the checker and if Indy really wants to dump TJ maybe they would bite this one. McRoberts is 6'10.

Re: TJ Ford about to be bought out by Indy
I'd guess Indy would rather TJ just expire than risk losing even more future capspace after they picked up Collison and Posey so any trade for Bibby might actually hamper their ability to go after Al next offseason. High character guy, slots in perfect at PF for them and went to HS just to the north, he'd definitely be on their radar new CBA or not be damned. Bird has worked too hard to get out of the bad characters and get capspace for 2011, I doubt he moves any of the expirings unless he is receiving a true quality piece in return. They were happy enough just benching Ford last season so perhaps there's a chance they still waive him though but I sincerely doubt TJ leaves any money on the table.

I would throw in Mo Evans then. Plus, even if it resulted in tax this year, it clears out cap space while being salary-neutral.
