Jarvis Vanardo going overseas

Heat will keep his rights.

Heat second-rounder Jarvis Varnado signs with 2nd-division team in Italy. Heat will retain his rights. Never had shot with roster overhaul.

Better to not waste his time in training camp, he had no shot of making the 15 man roster.

but if he could put on some muscle and come back next year maybe he could be a good bench guy. or he could be washing cars by next year.

Glad he's staying within the fold. If he makes good use of the time in Europe and takes steps toward an NBA body, he could challenge for one of the roster spots I expect to be vacated by way of Juwan's and/or Z's retirement.

From what I saw in Vegas, this kid has a shot to play for us if he builds his body and continues to develop his offensive game. He played Center in college so if he can transition to PF, I expect him to be on our roster next season.

I doubt he'll wash any car except for his own within the next ten years. The 2nd league in Italy will probably pay him a nice salary and if he plays well, he'll have a good shot at advancing to higher leagues or probably even making the NBA. If he sucks, he'll still find a place somewhere in Europe. He's an NBA prospect, guys like him shouldn't struggle to get a job.

this is one of the mistakes that a great team makes! There are going to be at least three spots on the bench every night but the practices for the heat are going to be off the chain. Eric could develop Varnardo, Pittman and Sean Butler in order to have young legs on the team. Think of how Butler would develop guarding Wade and Lebron in practice and how Varnardo guarding Bosh. His shotblocking is awesome and would definitely be the thing that helps this team in those endless middle of the season games.

I hope he does well over in Italy, and hopefully he bulks up.
I really want to see him play for this team, he is a true team player and great guy, very humble.

He gave up his scholarship so the team wouldn't have to drop one of his teammates, and they could get another player.

Randolph took a shot every time he touched the ball.

Vanardo hopefully takes getting his body in NBA physical shape seriously. He should make 245Lbs his target goal coming in next summer. Learn from Dwight Howard, he learned quickly that if he wanted to be successful he had to had to gain weight and strength otherwise he would get pushed around in the NBA. If Vanardo do not take it seriously all he will be is Tyrus Thomas. A player who just gets a random block or an exciting dunk, but fades when the game gets tough.

Varnado just looks stiff while running out there. He needs to improve on that. However, he would get easy open shots and play very good Defense. A couple of years overseas will do him good.

First its Varnado not Vanardo. He is better than Joel but face it Riley has his obligations this year and there is no room at the position. We are trying to acclimate forwards Miller, Bron, Bosh, and Howard with Haslem and Joel. He was just caught at a wrong time... but by not signing him we keep his rights... this was written on the wall and he will be back especially if we win a ring and can retire some of our vets.

unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

I'm just glad they get to keep his rights. If he plays well, he'll be back in the states soon enough.

Here's Jarvis obliterating the Italian League block shots record with 101 blocks. Every single one.

I hope he'll be able to play in a higher league in Europe next season. The 2nd league in Italy is okay, but nothing to get excited about. A stint with a good first league team in Spain, Italy, Israel or Greece would be a nice step forward for him.

Yeah hopefully he gets better competition next season. I think a number of shotblockers could have done the same in that league
