Gabe Encinas inked for $300K today...good stuff. And Mike from RAB agrees that Gumbs has likely signed and that the league is just holding up the deal until close to the 15th.
Christ, I hate how the league pulls this **** with the over-slot guys. I understand that they're trying to make an (impotent) attempt to keep players from setting the going rates early on but the over-slot guys are still going to ask for the moon and a lot of them are going to get it no matter what happens in late-June/early-July. Holding up the agreements helps nobody and just ends up hurting the players by costing them what could be close to a full season of short-season ball.

Re: 2010 Draft Signings thread
It looks like Jordan is likely to head back to school at this point, but if thats the case it at least opens up more money for Williams if the Yanks are willing to meet his demands. I can't see them letting both of those guys slip away.
I agree about holding the over slot deals off until the deadline. If Selig hates guys getting over slot deals, then he should find a way to implement a rookie scale. You can't have it both ways...but what else can we expect from him.

Re: 2010 Draft Signings thread
I haven't seen anything for sure, but my guess would be Staten Island
Gumbs has signed for $750 K
Morton is signed (should be official tomorrow)
Also sounds like Gamel and Burawa are signed
Yanks are trying to get Williams, Rutckyj, Viramontes, and Dezse done at the deadline. Don't expect all 3 pitchers to be signed though...hopefully Williams gets done.

Re: 2010 Draft Signings thread
Gamel puts them at 12 of the first 13 picks signed...a far cry from the Cole-Bittle debacle of a couple of years ago. At this point, I've given up on Jordan, but if they can get at least two of Williams/Rutckyj/Viramontes/Dezse inked, then they'll walk away from this draft with a very nice haul. Not a ton of high-probability guys but lots of upside, which is what this team should be shooting for with every draft.

Re: 2010 Draft Signings thread
Pretty much got everybody, we knew Jordan wasn't going to sign pretty early on so the only one they "missed out on" I'd say is Desze...overall good haul, hopefully some of the HS talent pans out.
