Could we be a possible 3rd team to facilitate a Melo trade?

Post#1 » by sackings916 » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:08 am

How many teams have cap space left and where are we at in terms of who has the most?

I would think with our cap space and some of our younger players we could possibly use to take advantage of Melo possibly demanding a trade. We realistically could add an all star caliber player or high potential guy using some of our assets (TPE, some nice young players who would suck losing but if we could add a all star caliber player I could see us parting with guys like Thompson,Casspi, or Greene and also future picks,) Would the Nuggets prefer raw cap space along with Thompson and Casspi where Melo would go to NY and we get Danilo Gallinari?

So you want to trade Thompson and Casspi for Gallinari? Sorry I don't like that idea at all.

Honestly Thompson and Casspi will be good players but they will never be all stars and are role players. Gallinari has the potential to be an all star. He has a deadly outside shot, can put the ball on the floor and drive, pass or make plays. He has a great basketball IQ, good size and is still very young. He's a solid defender as well. Im a big Gallinari fan so I may be overrating him but that trade was just an example of the flexibility we have to make a big move to improve the team.

only trade i would do for the Kings would be trading away garcia and landry for Tyrus thomas/ Dj Augustine in a 3 team trade. Casspi made Ghirardelli his bitch in the rookie game and almost right after against the Knicks. The Chocalote bar played 8 more minutes than Casspi did last year and Casspi plays just like his idol Manu Ginobli , so f the chocolate bar.

I don't want any Knicks garbage on this team, especially when you're helping that joke of franchise get someone like Melo.

This trade is terrible for the kings. I'm sorry casspi is as good as Gallo all on his own. And the only reason anyone things Gallo has star potential is because he's the only prospect that the Knicks have had to hype recently.

If the Kings even considered trading Thompson AND Casspi for Gallo, then I would be so disappointed in the Kings. I wouldn't trade either players sperated for Gallo, but to add both is just horrible. I just don't see the Knicks being able to add enough themselves for their to be a deal including Melo.

I couldn't see the kings getting involved if Melo is traded to new york because they don't really have much to offer. Theres some rumors that Orlando could be a possible destination. If we could get Jameer Nelson that would be great. I'd part with Landry/Cassipi for Nelson not sure how those contracts work out tho

Could Sacramento be the "Team 3" in a Carmelo trade, sure.....however should Sacramento target most anything they're likely to get from the Knicks, clearly not

We could in theory but the fact is that there's almost no way imaginable that the Kings use their cap space this year. If they could use it to acquire a start/superstar? Maybe. But acquiring good players (like Gallo) isn't going to push the team to use the space. Quite frankly, I have a hard time disagreeing with it. If you're the Maloofs and the team is operating at a [slight] loss why add $10-15mil to payroll when it's not going to make a difference in the win column.

If we facilitate Melo trade, I assume we're the 3rd team who's gonna make the other 2 happy ? When I heard about Gallo for JT et Omri, it sounds like that.

BTW, I definitely don't see how we can enter in this trade and hitting jackpot unless we're getting Melo and be witnesses to "The Decision Part II" next summer

Ok, as far as the Gallo/JT+Omri trade that was not the point of the post..it probably is bad value but im a big fan of Gallo and see limited ceilings in both Omri and JT, hopefully im wrong but I just dont know how much either will get better than what they are now.

I wanted to see where we stood compared to what other teams can do to be that 3rd team and also what other possibilities were out there..it doesn't have to be the Knicks. It could be the Magic with someone like Jameer Nelson, the Rockets with Aaron Brooks, etc. I just wanted to point out that this may be a good opportunity to try to improve the team since we have the assets that other teams may not be able to offer.

I don't see a trade like this going down unless we're able to come out winners. Why would the kings front office decide to trade away good assets for crap, just so that the nuggets get full value for Carmelo....

Some of these people just want the trade to go down so they're throwing our names in their to make it look better... as if they think the kings organization is full of idiots who will give away their players for pennies on the dollar.

What would it take for Melo to come here in a trade??? Would we have to part ways with either Tyreke/Cousins?? Or would a Dally Landry Casspi future 1st for Melo Affalo get it done

That would probably be the best offer available, and I would almost certainly do it, but only if he was extended...Melo would never sign long term with Sacramento.

+1!

It'd be nice if it could be done, but I don't give away that much unless we have him for at least three years because it will take a couple to be able to beat LA and be the WC challenger to the Heat.
