Cole Aldrich expectations
What kind of expectations do you guys have for Cole this year? Statisticly as well. Will he back up Krstic all year long? how many mpg will he be getting?
I could see him putting up something like 6 pts and 7 boards in about 20mpg, with a little over 1 block. What do you guys think?

I hope he starts and becomes our paint protector who intimidates and rebounds.
I think 8 points, 8 boards, 2 block in 25 minutes is what he will average.

If he can get 10/8/2 for us this year, we will contend for a championship.

Although I personally think he should start for OKC, I think he'll come off the bench his rookie season much like Harden did last year. Those stats seem pretty reasonable as well.

I think hell get pushed around a bit his rookie year but its only a matter of time before he bulks up
if he manages to be a full on starter something like 11/9/2 would be my high end expectations

Re: Cole Aldrich expectations
I think 6 / 7 / 1 in ~20 MPG with decent defense is a realistic expectation for Cole's rookie season. On the low end, I'd imagine something like what Robin Lopez accomplished his rookie year. On the high end, he impresses and wins the starting spot with 8 / 10 / 2 or something like that.

I dont' think he will get the rebounds everyone thinks he will get if he isn't playing alot more minutes. How many did Ibaka get? I wouldn't think his stats would be much different, but its good to have two of those guys out there.

I think that would be fanstatic. I hope he gets 25minutes a night. I don't really see it though.
If he does get 8 and 8 in 25 minutes he would have a great rookie campaign ( 2 blks seem high to me though). Hard to see him averaging 25 minutes a night right off the bat. At least until they trade Nick or Nenad. I just don't see a rookie Aldrich getting a ton of minutes at least not 24. I also have a hard time seeing a rookie Cole being better than Nick out of he gate. I hope he earns the spot but I think it is going to take a little while for him to establish himself as a rotation player that gets 24 minutes a night.
Honestly I just want to see the kid play well and prove he belongs on the floor. I think Brooks starts him off slow to build his confidence.
However it would be amazingly fantastic to see him start open night and actually bring in 8 and 8 and 2 blocks in 25minutes.
I think 5pts, 6rebs, 1blk in 18minutes a night is likely through December
I hope he gets 8pts, 8rebs, 1.5blks in 24minutes from Jan on.

Re: Cole Aldrich expectations
Well, his pace-adjusted per-40 numbers are roughly 16/14 on 57% FG and 70% FT (at a pretty good DrawF).
Naturally, I suspect his numbers to decline in an NBA context, but if you assume, then, that his per-minute rebounding is about 0.35, then he should put up anywhere between 7.5 and 9 rpg in about 25 mpg, which would be pretty good, and probably about 10 or 11 ppg. His FT% may improve, it seems to do so fairly often for guys stepping into the league. More practice usually does it unless they're muscle-bound behemoths... or Karl Malone.
I understand he had some bandages on his knees and was using crutches last month? Knee scoped, or somesuch?
Seems to be a low-turnover guy who knows how to get it done down low, moves well off-ball. Legit 6'11 guy, great wingspan and standing reach, pretty mobile, good shot-blocker, finishes the PnR well, good basic post arsenal, mediocre to bad shooter (possibly because of his weird form).
Projects as a good roleplayer. 6th man, or a 4th/5th-option type starter who works well within a structured offensive role, great help on the glass and defensively. Good pickup, should work out well.

There was the whole Tyson Chandler incident to consider, but here's hoping, right? I mean, even if he did get scoped, that's comparatively minor... and especially for a guy who's going to be sharing minutes with Ibaka, I can't imagine it'll be something that they'll rush him back from. Get his conditioning, get his legs, ease him in... 50 wins without him, they don't need to leap forward.

His knee was scoped, I know I heard it mentioned somewhere.

I think they want Cole to be, basically, a bigger / longer Nick Collison. Which seems like what you're describing.

Re: Cole Aldrich expectations
Sounds appropriate to me. And effective. He'll eat minutes, foul as necessary, play skilled defense, hit the glass hard and he'll even move well off the ball to be an after-the-fact scoring option off of penetration. Screens well, too.

I like the Collison comparison. Only thing id add is that Collison is one of the best at taking charges and I don't think Cole is that type of guy. However the thing that Cole has over Nick and most other big guys, is that he has really active hands in the paint. Makes him bigger and longer than he really is(which is really long to begin with).

Re: Cole Aldrich expectations
Somehow I'm expecting him to be the better rebounding, less effective in defense (though still pretty good) Roy Hibbert.
8/7/1.5 on 25 minutes of play a night.
Btw, I always think rebound transits well from NCAA to NBA. Look at Dejuan Blair. That guy grabs at least 10 rebounds once he's given more than 25 minutes a game. Remember that 20-20 against OKC?
