The Braves sent three pitchers to the Cubs, right-handers Robinson Lopez and Tyrelle Harris and lefty Jeffrey Lorick.

Thanks for everything Derrek. I wonder what could've been if he didn't break his wrist.

Ibreaknecks you can celebrate Lee is gone, well after we play Atlanta on this weekend. Lol.

On the one hand, they weren't going to re-sign him. Getting anything is better than nothing. The prospects are pretty mediocre, but this was more about dumping salary and moving on.

On the other hand, he's #4 on the Cubs all-time list (minimum 1500 PA) in OPS. He DOMINATED in 2005. I'll never forget watching him play that year.

It presents an interesting question for next year; who will our 1st baseman be? Adam Dunn and Carlos Pena are a couple free agents I'd be interested in.

Good ridance! I'm definately in the minority but I never liked him that much(except in 2005)... Always thought he was a B*tch.

He's been a stand up guy for all these years with the Cubs. And a pretty darn good first baseman. It's unfortunate he's leaving but it's in the best interest of the Cubs.

I'm pretty sad to see him go. He's always been a class act. This year was a disappointment by any measure, so I can understand letting him go and that we wouldn't have resigned him anyways. I do wonder what if after the wrist injury, because 2005 was awesome to watch.

I'd heard 1 or 2 of those guys might be decent prospects, albeit low level. Better than nothing for sure and gives him a chance to play for a contender.

1B next year is a big question mark. Dunn seems to make sense, but since we're cutting costs, he'd need to sign a Byrd type contract, IMO.

Too bad we can't get rid of Fukudome or Soriano anytime soon.

I would've loved to see him be part of the Championship Chicago Cubs, but I'm glad the move was made. Its a sign of new beginnings.
