No I've always wanted to see Rudy/D'Antoni, I think it could be a match made in heaven...

Just when you finally think they're on the right course, Knicks are again up for a bone head move.

They would really be foolish to consider this, Chandler's just a younger and better player.

We were discussing this on the Bulls board and one of the retired mods pointed out that the "deal" isn't Chandler for Rudy. The "tweet" is just the wiretap, and not the full story.

It is Chandler to a 3rd team for a 1st rounder that could go to Portland.

The problem with Chandler to the Blazers is that he will be a RFA next summer. So that last thing he would want is to go to a team where Batum, Matthews, and Babbit are all splitting time at SF. That would make for Rudy part 2. Chandler averaged 33:23 per game in 08-09, and 35:42 per game last year. I can't see him being too happy with a deep bench role in a contract year.

Also, the Blazers would have to trade Cunningham or Pendergraph to make the salaries match.

I can understand why the Blazers simply want a draft pick in exchange for Rudy.

Knicks would be dumb to give up Chandler for Rudy. Rudy can hit the 3, but so can Chandler and Chandler can also play the 4 in spurts while Stat plays the 5. Chandler can have a breakout year next year, but I think Rudy is what he is. Plus the guy will just sit next couple years so might as well low ball them. Give them Walker or something

Chandler won't be a Knick next season. Fernandez would. Sounds like a good trade to me.

You don't turn down trading nothing for something.

Yeah, pretty solid trade if it sets the table for Carmelo this season or next. Without Carmelo going to NY either this season or next, seems like a lot to give up for a headache to the Blazers who is ready to give up on the NBA though.

The Knicks won't resign Chandler period. Even if Melo doesn't come. Chandler will get the MLE, and the Knicks aren't going to spend that when Randolph and Gallo are both better at the 3 and 4. They're not going to use up their cap space on a backup.

So, now does Rudy become their 2 by default? I thought Chandler was going to be an integral piece in possibly getting them Melo, why give it up for Rudy? :dontknow:

The Melo trade is up in the air / no guarantees.

Maybe Denver swings a deal with Jersey for young talent and draft picks and Maybe Melo takes it and signs the 3 year extention because it's 65 million.

Maybe NY offers Denver Curry/Gallo and 2 dozen first round picks (I'm exagerating a bit) and gets Melo this year.

or, maybe, Melo waits for free agency, in which case, NY could offer a resigned Chandler and a couple picks as stuff to swap for a resigned Melo.

But holding onto Chandler so you can trade him for Melo doesn't make that much sense. It also means that NY could lose Chandler for nothing.

I still have mixed feelings on this trade. I think Chandler's a versitile, valuable player.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

It would be robbery if Portland, after Rudy came out and said he never wants to play in the NBA again, traded him for a player that was better than him.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
