Only one command to Chad Dawson would change what's happening to him: Pull the damn trigger.

Watched the fight a couple hours ago as I was gone last night.

Very frustrating to see Dawson not use his advantages until late in the fight. He needed to establish the jab very early. Jab and shoot the left with regularity early on, and its a completely different fight imo. Pascal was outworking him early but the last 3 rounds, he was starting to gas. Probably the biggest upset of 2010 so far. Pascal vs Bute in Montreal is HUGE, I think Bute knocks him out with an uppercut in the middle rounds. I guess Dawson could have Cloud in his backpocket as Bute was the plan, it appears.

Dawson doesn't let his hands go... and he will never be elite because of it. If he had fought the 11th round in the 1st, the fight would have been over before the 6th.

Bute vs Pascal will be epic... I saw 30K to see that fight somewhere.

I heard there was a rematch clause in the Dawson/Pascal fight and Dawson will exercise it. Does that mean that Pascal's next fight has to be against him or can it be after the Bute/Pascal fight?

I was happy to watch a couple Cuban prospects the other day on FNF: Erislandy Lara looked great but he was fighting a very weak fighter. Still, I don't doubt he can beat some of the top guys. Atlas said he thinks he could beat Cotto. I'm not sure about that but I really can't discount the possibility either.

Despagne fought a guy with almost no experience and while he won nearly every round, he didn't look that good doing it. I've seen him twice now and I'm just not that impreseed.

In other news... Kessler is out of the SuperSix

Margarito is going to fight Pacman because Texas has a **** santioning body... and it is a big money fight in Dallas.

Kessler dropping out really sucks. At least, they have 4 fighters left so the tournament can automatically move onto a semifinal. Kessler, if he recovers, can always fight the winner.

it is a big money fight in Dallas.

Exactly the reason why Margarito was accepted. The goal for attendance appears to be set on 70,000.

Notable fights this weekend:

Ivan Calderon vs Giovani Segura - Little guys! Calderon is 35, undefeated, and the long-time 108 lb. king and Segura can pack a punch. Calderon has such tremendous boxing skill that I can't see him losing but he's been vulnerable at times, lately.

Marcos Maidana vs Demarcus "Chop Chop" Corley - Maidana returns home to Argentina after 2 good wins on HBO. Last time I saw Chop Chop, he got brutally KTFO on ShoBox a few months ago. Should be entertaining while it lasts, Maidana wins by KO inside 5 to set up a big fight with Khan in December.

Segura is rare that he loves to brawl and has some KO power in his little hands...

Maidana should get another KO... and it should be ugly.

Segura KO'd Calderon in the 8th.

Maidana UD 12 over Corley 117-110, 117-110, and 115-112. Reports are saying it was a closer fight than the scores indicate.

Victor Ortiz might have made Maidana look better than he really was.

Maidana is one strong and nasty mofo, but his boxing skills leave alot to be desired, but even then... I thought he won vs Koltewhatever his name is in Germany, a guy who I thought dominated Alexander. He is a legit top fighter at 140, and there is a reason why Khan has ducked him.

Only bitter it's not Bute.

Have a feeling Hop will take him school but he didn't look good at all against Jones Jr. BTW, hearing PPV for this one? HBO has plans and Showtime might put the 118 lb. mini-tournament on that night.

Lorenzo/Sturm on ESPN3.com, that site will also have the Klitschko brothers too.

Forgot to post here last week but I did see the 2 HBO fights. I was very impressed with Rios. Peterson did not fight smart, he was doing well with his jab and staying on the outside but decided to go inside and trade with Rios. It was DQ after a 4th lowblow by Peterson, who was going to get KO'd imo. Rios should get a nice fight at 135 and Peterson is young enough and talented enough to bounce back. Something seemed off with Gamboa again, even though he won a decision. Maybe took Salido too lightly? Salido is a tough SOB who is hard to KO but I thought Gamboa could've if he really wanted to. Next fight is rumored to be Chris John in early 2011, damn good fight.

Tomorrow is Mosley-Mora on HBO PPV. Undercard features Saul Alvarez, Victor Ortiz, and Escalante-Ponce De Leon. Price is down a few bucks from normal HBO PPV(this one is 54 in HD) but it should be a GBP independent PPV, where its likely 10 or so bucks cheaper...I might have been down for that. Its not a bad card overall(Alvarez and Escalante are good for action) but I'm surprised at HBO's support behind it.
