I agree. I think we've gone as far as we could with Melo, and I'd personally like to see us be a more defensive team.

I read something like that said alot on here and I honestly don't understand what you guys mean. Does that mean that by focusing our attention on Paul our front office will do the same? Or does it mean that we shouldn't even talk/focus about a guy like Melo playing in NY because you don't think it will happen?
I think it's entirely reasonable to "focus" on Melo and Paul given the wedding toast and Melo's ties to NY (his wife, family, etc). If you're worried about Knicks fans getting let down then don't; almost everyone on that board knows that after the whole Lebron fiasco there are no guarentees with anything.
It's the offseason and basketball is still a few months away. No harm in talking about pretty much anything that's somewhat realistic.

Two things...
1) Denver will not be receiving any awesome offers. Since just about everybody (including the Maverick Maverick owner) has acknowledged Melo will sign in NY even should he be traded somewhere else, it is extremely doubtful the overwhelming offers will roll in. His value lies in whatever a temporary hired gun is worth for a chance at a deep run. Forget multiple 1st rounders and multiple players with star potential. Nope, uh-uh. Not meant to be a flame, just an analysis of the info floating around.
2) The Jazz fans ought to zip it. Deron Williams is up the same time Paul is. How would you like it if he started making overtures about being part of a big three in NY or Orlando? Get spanked in the playoffs a couple more years and you may find out...

You mean that article from tuesday, written before the news came out that Melo would infact sign with other teams? Also can you explain the Webber to Kings trade, or the Wallace to atlanta trade, since you believe nobody will give up value for a rental. Fact is the Bullets got a 6 time all star, and the Hawks gave up a good PF, a DPOY at center, and filler. Both are not bad and would trump a Gallinari/ Curry/ junk offer any day of the week. Hell I would take prospects that truly had the chance to be as good of players as those guys were, long before I would touch anything on the Knicks.

they would probably like it almost as much as New York fans are going to like it when Melo is traded elsewhere.

All the chatter from Melo and his circle says NY. I've never heard one word from those same people about Melo going anywhere else. I DO recalling reading that Cuban was certain he was going to end up in NY, though, and that's why the Mavs weren't going to seriously pursue him. You don't think its likely that these other "anonymous league sources" are in fact coming from Denver in order to increase bidding? Good thing you don't buy and sell for a living.....
And BTW, as much as I like CA, it won't break my heart if he goes someplace else. I really like the young guys we have. I just don't think he ends up anywhere but NY by 7/11.

Re: 'Melo Situation (new topics will be locked)
My feeling is this guy is dedicated to Denver as a city, loves playing here and wants to win.
No reason to deflate all of that just yet. I think the GK situation alone deserves keeping him here one more year.....even if just for that. I know it's a new injury every year and it doesn't change but that's is almost the only thing you can't control. FO had got some more bigs in last season this thin frontcourt might have stood a chance.
Has nothing to do with Melo, his contributions to the team, his constant improvement every season......
....but he should stay here for at least one more season just to go through an entire season and give it one last push.
I think there's a lot of enthusiasm Melo has built up around this team that he can sustain by being here and playing well. New enthusiasm and talent will come through, it always does....but I don't think we should kill this run just yet.

Meanwhile, if the Nuggets cannot convince Carmelo Anthony to sign an extension with the team and they decide to trade him at some point, could it be to the Los Angeles Clippers? I’m hearing it could be a possibility. It would get both he and his wife, La La, out to where entertainment opportunities are plentiful, which is key factor in their decision to want to move on. The Nuggets might be able to get a good young player or two or draft picks, and Anthony would be able to play on a team with some good up-and-coming talent.

That is an interesting development, I don't know how the salaries will work out, but there is plenty of young talent on the clippers that I have plenty of interest in.

Kroenke’s son tries to woo Anthony
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports
2 hours, 34 minutes ago
Denver Nuggets executive Josh Kroenke met with Carmelo Anthony(notes) in Baltimore over the weekend and restarted the process of selling the disgruntled star on signing a contract extension, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
No resolutions were reached, sources said, but Kroenke, the owner’s son, has undoubtedly emerged as a far more powerful voice in the franchise. His burden is unmistakable now: As a 30-year-old on the cusp of taking over majority ownership of the Nuggets, he must sell the All-Star forward on staying the course with the Nuggets.
The Nuggets are close to hiring a new general manager – with former Phoenix Suns executive David Griffin the frontrunner – but Kroenke and adviser Bret Bearup will have the most significant say in basketball matters.
Anthony has hesitated to sign a three-year, $65 million extension and expressed intrigue with opting out of his contract next summer to become a free agent. Despite significant speculation the New York Knicks are the team that Anthony would most likely want to join, two sources close to him insisted the Knicks have been overstated as an object of his desire. Privately, Anthony has expressed more enthusiasm over joining the Houston Rockets than the Knicks, sources said.

Rox fan here.
What (reasonable) S&T with Houston wouldn't leave too sour a taste in your mouths? I know Houston doesn't have any superstars, but we've got depth to burn. Want some?

I thought of this one whilst playing 2k10:
Nuggets in: DeMarcus Cousins, Shane Battier, Jared Jeffries
Nuggets out: Carmelo Anthony
Houston in: Carmelo Anthony
Houston out: Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, Jared Jeffries, 2011 1st
Kings in: Aaron Brooks, 2011 1st
Kings out: DeMarcus Cousins

Kings in: Aaron Brooks, 2011 1st
Kings out: DeMarcus Cousins

Looks surprisingly fair. (Besides, the Kings are usually pretty easy to fleece.)

Yeah, I guarantee you the Kings are not trading Demarcus Cousins.

Sure they would, if they were getting an extended Melo. For Brooks and a 1st... no way, indeed.

It's kind of funny how 90% of fans on realgm talk **** about Melo non-stop....but now it seems like all those same people are hoping their team trades for him. I guess 'hating' really is the truest form of respect.

who talks **** about him and what do they say. aside from him taking a cheap shot in that knicks brawl all those years ago he is 1 of the top 10 players in the game. he has carried the denver franchise since he has been in the league. he personally led Cuse to a chip. he is 1 of the few guys that, aside from the fight and the stop snitching thing which had nothing to do with him, has kept his name drama free since day 1
if anybody out there is talking **** about him they are full of shite

If you don't believe anyone talks **** about him, calls him over rated, says he isn't a leader, or that he'll never win in this league, than you haven't been to the GB very often. Almost everyone use to bash Melo. It hasn't been as bad lately.

Anthony, Nuggets look ready to part ways
By Adrian Wojnarowski,
Yahoo! Sports 43 minutes ago
Carmelo Anthony(notes) wants out of Denver, and World Wide Wes delivered that message to the Nuggets with all the delicacy of a jackhammer at Sunday morning services. Do yourself a favor and trade him, the agent told the organization weeks ago.
Denver was furnished with a short list of teams and told to get to work. Yes, this how William Wesley and Leon Rose of CAA work now, thick with threats and ultimatums and a swagger suggesting that the sport belongs to them. After Anthony told owner-in-waiting Josh Kroenke that he still wanted out of Denver during a Sunday meeting, the Nuggets appear done trying to sell their All-Star forward on a contract extension.
This wasn’t a productive, nor particularly pleasant, meeting and multiple sources said it could turn out to be the point of no return for Anthony and the organization. Sources insist it’s no longer a matter of if the Nuggets trade Anthony, but when, where and for whom he’s traded for.

At the same time, if Melo leaves, all of his loyal Nuggets fans will bitch as much as Cleveland does about LeBron now, about how he is overrated anyway.
This is getting stupid, I'm losing interest in basketball fast with all these players whining and leaving.
