Yankees need a new ss and end the Jeter era
I am scared to think what this guy is going to get after this season.
GIDP's all of the time, terrible at ss, cant hit anymore and is getting OLD! Guy also has the Baseball IQ of a mental (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
Gardner on first and the Captain is swinging and GIDP'ing on the first pitch like usual. What the hell is the point of having Gardner lead off, steal bases, etc etc etc etc to have the worst hitter in the lineup batting second? Any other team would have Jeter batting 8th if not 9th butttttt nooooooooooooooo Girardi has to put in the GIDP machine into the top of the lineup. Great thing that we have one of the best runners in baseball being wasted because Jeter is too stupid to work the count with runners on base and let Gardner steal.

Worst hitter in the lineup? I'm pretty sure Granderson still plays every day, more or less.
Don't hate on Jeter the guy has been clutch for us his entire career. He's having a down year but he'll get it together. His defense looked poor in the first half but he's looking better at SS since the break. He's still on pace for like 180-190 hits, even with the down season. Besides, who are you going to get to replace him at SS?

Overreact much?
Just a year ago the guy was an MVP candidate.. now we should just get rid of him.

Jeter is going to be 37 next year, is going to want 15-20 million easily. He is having by far and away his worst season in the majors in a contract year.
Are you guys comfortable with giving Derek 3-4 years, 60-80 million? I'm not. Especially when is he isn't going to want to move from SS or be dropped into the bottom of the order.

Jeter has been defying father time for a few years now being a middle infielder.
Who knows what the Yankee FO will do next year and beyond, as it'll be a ticklish situation.
I'd expect Jeter is resigned...... but for less that the 15-20 mil per year

Jeter is what 3-30 something on this homestand? Another GIDP batting second. His bat is killing the lineup and he needs to be hitting in the bottom 3rd. God Forbid Girardi move Jeter down in the lineup. Do not want to piss off the captain. Some Captain he is, the whole entire world knows that Jeter should be hitting 7-9th and Jeter still hasn't asked to be moved down while he is killing the team.

I want to meet the GM"s on here who are comfortable giving Jeter who is going to be hitting .250 by the end of the season 15-20 million a year for his 37-40 year old seasons.

I want to meet the GM who is comfortable with A-Rod's body breaking down, his home run totals down, his average down...and yet the Yanks are on the HOOK for SEVEN more seasons of the 275 Million.
Yes, Jeter's numbers are down but he can still play...A-rod, every time batting practice is going on I am afraid he'll tear something.
It wouldn't shock me if the Yanks need a 3B (moving Alex to DH) before they need a SS...

hahahaa, you really believe that? Arod's last injury was a freak hit by Lance Berkman during batting practice. Is the homerun power down? sure but he would have hit 30 HR's if not for that freak injury.
Arod can still drive in runs. He already has 100 even though he missed time. Arod plays better defense than Jeter in the field. Nice try on that one.
Jeter now has an OPS below .700. His OBP is .330. IN A CONTRACT YEAR. But certain GM's on here are comfortable giving that crappy play 15-20 million a year? RIGHT.
I TOLD YOU ALL. It's time to end the Jeter era and his play warrants that.

Captain Team Player is 15-95 in the past month. Great thing he hits in the top of the lineup.

It annoys the hell out of me that the fans wont even boo him for this crap play of his. If it was arod they would have started ages ago. I hate it when they say "oh he's the captain" "he's classy" "its one bad year". But it doesnt matter anyway. We all know whats going to happen. He's gonna have a great postseason or make some big hit in the world series and everyone is gonna fall in love with him and say what a great year he had
Lol sorry for the rant i dont have a problem with jeter at all, I just dont like the way my fellow yankee fans act when it comes to this guy

Jimmy Rollins and Jose Reyes are the biggest names but I think Mets have a team option on Reyes. Doubt they'd let him go.

.231/.309/.301/.609 over his past 77 games with 14 GIDPs
I want to personally meet the people on here who want to give this guy 4 years 80 million. Bunch of dopes.
7 for his last 61. That doesn't deserve 2 million a year. Ramiro Pena would be getting at least 10 hits.

Jeter with one weak grounder after another.
I would personally love to meet the geniuses on here who want to give him anything more than 4 years 20 million.
Guy has turned into one of the worst offensive everyday players and it's great because Clueless Joe 2.0 continues to put the old man in the top of the lineup.
Jeter, go retire and pull a Joe D. Do the Yankees, the fans and your legacy a huge favor.

Jeter deserves the benefit of the doubt for at least another year. He is a career .314 hitter and is an all time great for us.
As far as the contract is concerned, it's a very tricky situation. I would not pay him anything close to the $20 million he may be looking for, but I think something in the $10 million range is more than fair.
