No, that's exactly what you were saying with the words that you picked.

We never won a title, if you are okay with that then you are probably a casual who only watches the Pacers when they are doin good.

For most people, there are varying degrees of success and failure. On paper, our team was never supposed to be contenders for so long with Reggie Miller as the face of the franchise.

to make the playoffs 18 out of 20 years and not win a championship seems more like a failure than an accomplishment

.500 and 8th seed is the average when you have 15 teams in the conference. Significantly above that for 18 seasons out of 20 makes us better than most teams in the league. For a team in a small market to pull that off already exceeds expectation.

I feel like a season is successful when it exceeds most of my expectations. When I root for the Colts, I'm expecting a trip to the Superbowl. When I'm rooting for the Pacers these days, I expect us to be around 8th seed.

This is why I never push for tanking, because I believe you can still accomplish something even if you're in the lower end of the lottery after you get knocked out of the playoffs.

Also, calling contenders failures for not winning championships is kind of like calling Ewing, Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Reggie, Elgin Baylor, and George Gervin failures. Through those 20 seasons the Pacers busted their asses off and did their best for everything that they could control. The one thing you can't control is who your opponents going to be( Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal).

I, for one, am okay that the Pacers haven't won a title yet because that's in the past. I'm looking forward, and I will enjoy watching how the Pacers go along on the journey and I will be supporting them every game. If we get a championship, then that's just the ultimate icing on the cake.

Of course, I guess you could call a cake a failure if it has no icing.

I know most of you ain't just casual fans or you wouldn't be postin on here all the time, but to make the playoffs 18 out of 20 years and not win a championship seems more like a failure than an accomplishment. That's just me, most of you probably don't feel that way tho.

A failure? Really?

In the last 25 years, only 7 teams have won a championship. Only 7. So are you saying all those other teams are failures?

They were never champions, but they were the farthest thing from failures

I am glad you brought up the Colts because w/o the championship in 06' they'd be in the exact same situation. W/O the championship, I would still be as happy as a fat boy eating burritos. Honestly... most wins in a decade, all qb/wr tandem records, alltime great rbs (James/Faulk), alltime elite wrs ( Harrison/Wayne), alltime elite DE's ( Freeney/Mathis), DPOY safety BOB, and soon to be the greatest of all time SirPeyton.

So if they didn't win in 06' I should feel empty?

Actually I have the opposite feeling, I am proud of the Colts and their propensity for entertaining Indiana. I felt the exact same way about the Pacers for two decades, and even though we have hovered around mediocrity for the last few seasons, rays of hope are starting to disperse throughout the city again.

Sorry for hijacking your "PaulGeorge has hops" thread. I confer.

Our team could use a slam dunk competitor in this year's All-Star Weekend. Somebody needs to represent Indy during that weekend.

I think Hibbert gets snubbed this year. I feel he can put up 17.1pts/8.9rebs/2.4blks per game this season

If the Pacers are winning games, he won't be snubbed. Amare always enters with eligibility as a forward, as does KG. Dwight is automatically in. Al Horford might make it back. That leaves a third spot open. David Lee is in the Western Conference. Brook Lopez and Andrew Bogut are both guys who can take it, but are both battling injuries to get back. Joakim Noah is a dark horse. The 3rd spot is open, but Hibbert has about a 15% chance in my estimation.

How many players make the All-Star roster, right now all my locks are Wade, LeBron, Howard, Stoudemire, and Bosh. If no injuries

Rose/Rondo
Wade/Johnson
LeBron/Granger/Pierce
Amar'e/Bosh/Boozer
Howard/? (Could be Lopez, Bogut, Hibbert, or Horford)
