JR Smith is on the block

I wonder if this means that Melo is staying and they are focusing on getting a big with JR, or if they are getting a Sg they like and figure they can get a 4th or 5th big + and asset for JR.

i'd rather see JR leave than Melo.
if trading him means keeping Melo, pull the trigger now.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys expect to get back for him?

If Melo leaves, they would almost have to keep JR, to try and replace some of Melo's scoring. Maybe this is a sign Melo is staying. We could probably get a capable backup big for Smith. He can score in bunches and is an EC.

Not neccesarily, they could be getting a couple of guys who can score for Melo, and if that is the case then with the addition of Harrington they should be fine, with or without Jr.

Aren't JR and Melo good friends?

And how exactly are they trading him when the FO is half empty? Shouldn't they replace the people they fired first? Seems kinda of like a BS article. I also don't see how trading JR when his value is lowest, makes Melo think the team is going in the right direction, unless a steal is made.

JR Swish has been on the block for quite a while now, I fail to see how this is recent news to anyone.

Easy no. Denver wants nothing to do with Rip and his contract. Taking one of Denver's two centers, and not giving much else back just makes it worse.

You can have T-Mac instead of Summers lol. I can't believe I'm saying this.

I'd like to keep JR personally, but if we get an offer that clearly makes us better you obviously accept...

so unless one of the following (or another trade that clearly benefits us) is offered, I'd rather keep JR....

JR and a 2nd for Pryzbilla and Rudy
JR and a first for Thabeet and Henry
JR and a first for Thompson (or Landry) and Garcia
Kenyon, JR and a pick for Monta and Biedrins
maybe JR for Perkins
JR for some package involving Gortat

if we trade JR straight up for a big man, then we'd probably have to trade Kenyon for a scoring guard off the bench (like BG, Monta or Rip who'd start)

Trading Jr right now is just an awful idea. His value is terribly low and we would never get anyone as valuable in return. The man is a game-changer, simple as that. Sure, he makes a **** of bonehead plays and will never shy away from a wild three, but we rarely lose a game because of it. He wins far more games for us than he loses, IMO. Hell, Utah sweeps us in the first round last year if Jr doesn't go off in the 4th quarter of Game 1. He is a legitimate threat from anywhere on the court and can drop 40 any given night. There's no way in hell we'll ever get back a player that can have that kind of an impact in return for Jr.

Agreed, the only way I would trade JR is for a good young starting caliber big or a potential superstar at SG, being that I doubt we get either we may as well hold on to JR.

unfortunately it seems like jrs value is always too low to consider trading him. and right now seems like an especially bad time after a sub-par season, and a disappointing playoff series.

unless melo's stepped in and requested that jr be traded as some sort of condition to signing a new contract....it doesn't make a lot of sense for this to come up now. jr's value should rise because you gotta imagine he'll a) keep improving at some rate just because he's still young b) not have two bad seasons in a row c) be in a contract year and should have some added motivation to play well and keep his head on straight.

only makes sense to at least wait it out until january. and at that point i'd be all for trying to package him with kmart's expiring to obtain another star/impact player.

Anyone think Houston might have some interest in JR. Maybe a deal of JR and Balkman for Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries. Houston gains a bit of scoring power off the bench at either wing spot and gain a decent hustler in Balkman. Denver gets more length and defense down low. Hill is an interesting prospect that could be lost in Houstons depth.
Nuggets:
Billups / Lawson / Carter
Afflalo / Billups / Melo
Melo / Harrington / Jeffries
Harrington / Hill / Williams / Jeffries / KMart(when hes back)
Nene / Andersen / Hill

Houston:
Brooks / Lowry
Martin / Smith / Lee
Battier / Smith / Budinger
Scola / Patterson / Hayes
Yao / Miller / Hayes

His value's **** low right now, but if this is some sort of request from Melo (maybe he got tired of him chucking 3's lol), I'm fine if we get back at least a half decent return.
