JR Smith

Post#1 » by TruSkool » Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:55 pm

is available....

is he worth opening a discussion about or pass?

its the offseason so i thought i'd throw it out there, but id probably rather pass, UNLESS sasha and luke go and somehow JR's antics can be transformed...
but him and kobe have had some beef...then again, so did matt barnes, and so did ron artest.

not sure what would get it done. Not sure I really like him as a person, but there is no denying two things.

1) the man can play
2)we're getting older and in need of some youthful athleticism

*Bonus- another shooter couldn't hurt

Untouchable List- Kobe,Pau,LO,Fish,Artest,Bynum,Barnes,Blake

Always loved this dude, probably the most streaky shooter I've ever seen, but when on, the most prolific shooter, Personally I'd love the guy, six man type.

They'd never take our junk, so it's a moot point.

For Sasha? In a heartbeat, I'd assume Denver is not so keen on that deal though

JR Smith, Ron Artest, Matt Barnes, Derrick Caracter would be quite a collection of misfits.

Only Phil could handle that group.

We dont have anything to offer the Nugg's for JR and to be honest with you i dont really think he is a good fit chemistry wise.

I kringe everytime i see people saying some guy is a locker room cancer just because they read somewhere that the guy got a dui or his girlfriend called the cops on him during a relationship spat but there is something about JR that make's it pretty easy to take a pass on him aside from the fact salary cap wise there really is no way we could get him.

Hell NO

1. He gets Hot and Cold on O and his D is well... avg.
2. He wants min and lets see him being happy playing min as Kobes Sub
3. This man is cracy in the head(and i dont see Artest and JR Smith doing great stuff together).

So we dont have Mins for him, he is not that good and he is a proplem off and on court = I dont want him.

you know, outside of the fact that we don't really have movable assets we'd want to trade, I already worry that with Ron and now Barnes (who has a more aggressive fighter mentality) that adding the thugget would be a bad idea.

Right now we have a great looking team and I'm sure Phil will be happy to keep the reigns on Artest and Barnes, but add JR and it might get dicey. JR can score, but I don't think we need his presence around.

its not about the better players its more about the better fit players and right now we're stacked. We dont need to add another guy that could potentially mess up the chemistry by talking sheit on his twitter account when things dont go smoothly. i like borderline love this team we got right now and no further adjustment/additions should be taken.

if he didnt have the excessive baggage that he brings, i think he'd be an excellent backup to kobe...but i do feel like matt barnes can do whatever JR does, except in an orderly fashion

He'd would definitely have to change his mindset playing with Kobe and Pau and for Phil and Dr. Buss, but I doubt it happens mainly because the Nuggets aren't in the business to help the Lakers any more.
Thank you, Phil.

I just do not see them taking Sasha and that is about the only one I would give for him. He makes about a million more than Sasha does. Good player, but just to late in the summer for the Lakers to really think of it. But who knows. Come camp time....anything can happen.

I'm not sure why a team would give up a lot of their assets for him when he is going to be an unrestricted free agent by the end of this season. Next year when he becomes a free agent I think the Lakers should still try to convince J.R. Smith to come to the Lakers for MLE type money at a lesser role. If he could get his ish together J.R. Smith would be the best option for Kobe's backup.
