Did USA really have major questions as far as perimeter shooting? Not anymore than previous years imo..Rondo had the best court vision on the squad.

Well, aside from the '08 Olympic team, which was decently stocked with jumpshooters, most of those past teams over this past decade have lost in international competition, so there's something to be said for keeping shooters on the team. That said, I assumed Kevin Love or Danny Granger would've been the ones to go.

Wiretap is saying that Rondo withdrew above where I'm posting this message and people are still saying he got cut?

ITT, many people self-fulfilling how they feel about Rondo. We get it. REALLY, we do. But Rondo did withdraw.

Dislike the move. Rondo is the best defender/disruptor Team USA has. Granted I liked all the PG's on the team so I wouldn't have liked any of them being cut.

I think that Rondo may have made a move to Coach to withdraw and take the decision out of the coaches hands. He has played deep into the playoff's the last 3 years (unlike many of the other PG's on the team) and could use the rest.

Either way no one player is going to carry Team USA. The most valuable player they have is Chandler since there is a distinct like of size on the team......
I'm so tired of the typical......

This is speculation--but I think Rondo knew he was on the bubble, knew that he use some rest/time to take care of issues, and so figured he'd just withdraw.

He may have been cut anyways, but I don't think it would be before tomorrow night...

No, he is not but you must be especially if you think that he was not cut.

Read this:

When pressed on who may or may not be on the bubble, Krzyzewski gave a very strong indication that Stephen Curry is not.

“ Rondo Just looking at the obvious -- I got a DNP last game. That pretty much speaks for itself.
” -- Rajon Rondo

"It's not so much what Rajon has to show, it's what our team needs. We've found a good lineup, and the international game is so different from the NBA game, you can ask any of these guys," Krzyzewski said. "Part of it is to make sure that we try not to have two non-shooters out on the court, and there's the physicality, too.

"Derrick right now being with Chauncey is a good [combination], and Stephen, he provides a different thing, because if they are going under [screens] and they keep going under on him, then he has a 3. So it forces another team to change the way they defend our team. So it's things like that, and how we feel strategy-wise what'll be best for the team."

We just think it looks suspicious, that's all. I'm neither a huge fan of Rondo or Rose (both are fine, and this Rondo/Rose feud that's been going on these past few weeks tops even the Evans/Curry/Jennings ROY rants for sheer stupidity), and even I think that as good of a floor general as Rondo is, his lack of a consistent jumper makes him a hard sell for a tournament with a ruleset that allows bigs to camp in the lane, where the refs tend to let a lot more go foul-wise.

They still have Westbrook as a great defender/disruptor plus the fact he has been playing well so far. No need for Rhondo who is a liability in the international game...and been playing bad.

Yeah this just goes to show how important it is for Rondo to go and work on his shooting. He pretty much really good at everything else, but the lacking jump shot really hurts him. Hopefully now he has something to prove and will work hard on improving his jumper.

2002/2004 teams lost because of lack of chemistry more than anything. 2006 was a couple stops away from possibly winning the whole thing. My point was that this team's makeup (with rondo) isn't all that much different than previous years, and a majority of the outside shooting has not been coming from PGs in this system anyway (2008 won due to talent, maturity on defense & Kobe). IMO Rajon would have found a way to impose his game on a fiba court, just like Rubio has. But either way a great player was going to have to depart.
