Wow, huge thread.

Do Washington say no to:
Erick Dampier (they can waive him straight away and not have to pay him)
Matt Carroll (2 years remaining, another floor spacer for Wall)

for

Gilbert Arenas (4 years remaning, coming off suspension and knee injuries)

You forgot to mention extremely talented offensive player, former all-star and fan favorite.

Ruzious and Rico take your deal Ced.. But they are no Wizards fans anyway, they decided in January to spend the 2011 season rooting against Gilbert Arenas (and in effect the Wizards) because they want him dealt.

So, WHEN Gilbert Arenas re-establishes himself as this team's franchise player, they will simply have to find another team to root for, or they could simply squeam in anguish every night he puts 25 on the opposition and has the team on a playoff pace.

Are you serious...???

Ruz and Rico are probably bigger Wizfans than you are, they consistently use a "what's best for the Wizards as a team" basis for their arguments, you just come here with your obnoxious "everybody hates Gil/Gil above the team" attitude... I would love Gil to stay, but if better options are available, for the betterment of the team, we should take them... And I'm a HUGE Gil fan... (check the name)

I wonder if Gil is traded, or decides to leave, will YOU still be a Wiz fan...??? Question your own fandom (lack of better word) first before you question that of others...

Yep. I don't take that deal. People that might just have a different opinion. This board's filled with Wizards fans. I'm an Arenas fan and hope he stays. I'm a Bullets/Wizards fan first. If Arenas gets traded, I hope he still has a great career and maybe even makes the Wizards regret trading him, but when he plays the Wizards, I'll want Wall to shut Arenas down, and he will.

Yawn.

Haven't you said before that if the Wiz trade Arenas, you'd no longer be a Wizards fan? And you'd be happy if the Wiz goal is to go .500 every year as long as Arenas is here? One of us is a real Wizards fan, and one of is an Arenas fanboy trolling on a Wizards board.

Didn't exactly say that, but you can twist my words as you wish.

Anyhow, I'm here aren't I? I'm rooting for the team aren't I? Check the join date, been here as long as you and on other Wiz boards before that. You would've twisted my words the same when C-Webb was dealt too, however I'm still here. Most of all though, Mr. Bucks Fan should not be questioning anybody's fandom. When you openly split you're allegiance between teams, you're not really in any spot to question anyone else.

You're the Arenas hating troll, along with Rico, on a WIzards board. The team he plays for no-less. Some fan to openly want players on your team to fail so they are traded.

Also, if my posts are so boring to you, simply don't respond and place me on ignore like the rest of the grumpy old men here.

Saw this from a fan on another Wiz site earlier:

I was downtown and happened to run into Sam Young who told me they had been playing at Verizon yesterday with a bunch of other nba players and that Gil was torching the place. He said gil had a few exposive dunks and was burning it up from all over the floor. He said Gil looked in better shape than he has ever seen him.... Just thought I would pass the word....
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Then today on the Insider I saw this:

Ted Leonsis says Gilbert Arenas looks "fit, trim and explosive"

Gilbert Arenas has maintained an extremely low profile this offseason while training mostly in Chicago with Tim Grover, but there still remains a high level of interest in how the former face of the franchise has been coming along.

Owner Ted Leonsis fills in that void with a short post on his personal blog, Ted's Take, in which he writes about stumbling into the practice court at Verizon Center and finding Arenas playing a pickup game with several NBA players, including some all stars.

Leonsis doesn't mention the other players in the gym but writes, "[S]uffice to say Gilbert looked trim, fit and explosive. His shot was sweet and he did one left handed dunk that was something to see. It had everyone talking. I was impressed and am happy."

Leonsis's comments reminded me of my trip to Barry Farm last summer to catch Arenas in a surprise pickup game with the Goodman League. Arenas had considerable bounce on that humid night as well. He looked like he was close to being back to his old self, then came the lost campaign of 2009-10.

But now, Arenas has already met with Leonsis, who is encouraging fans to "re-embrace" him, and spoken with John Wall about his expectations for the upcoming season. You guys ready for comeback No. 4?

Of course I would, but I would end up like you and have to split my allegiances between the Wizards and where ever team Gilbert ended up with. :-)

Arenas will be a Wizard for the foreseeable future. Leonsis has hyped him up way too much at this point. Very happy he's smart enough to see through the media hype/overreaction surrounding the Arenas incident. Foolish of course, but "career/potential killing", of course not. This is a man who can do amazing things for this squad, and his max contract if he plays to 75% of his ability is a better value than multiple max contracts floating around the NBA today.

Rico and others who keep throwing him out there in foolish cap space deals, time to pipe down. Get behind the team we have, and don't be disgusted if we win 35-40 games and get the 15th pick. It's time for us to compete, and start a winning culture. 20m in cap space means nothing to a disinterested fanbase. Leonsis stands to make more money THIS YEAR and in the long run by putting out the best quality product possible, without sacrificing the stability of the squad going forward. Wall/Blatche/McGee ensure the possibility of great things in the future, having Arenas hurts NOTHING, yet helps everything. Veteran 20 PPG 6 AST.......where's the issue there?

That's right Rico, I just called you out. Take that. Feel free to respond with a customary smileyface.

Great news. Now I can feel good about my 49-win prediction. Gil shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon!

dlts20, Sam Young looked terrific in summer league. He's a player I wish the Wizards could find a way to acquire.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Taking a wait-and-see approach, can Gilbert be just one of the guys in Flips offense? Is he really 100% recovered?

Still sticking with my 30-35 win prediction. How many points will a team with these starters giveup?

A while back, didn't some mediocre NBA baller tweet that Arenas was killing it in a pick up game against a bunch of elite NBA players?

Um, yeah before the start of last season. Yet, when the season rolled around, Gil looked awful.

Mkay, that is not competing nor a winning culture. That is a mediocre culture. It is one the Wizards have had for years.

I thought there was another tweet more recently, like in June or something.

If there was I didn't hear about it.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

He didn't look "awful". In fact, he looked damn good for the first 5 or so games.

After which, he looked like someone who hadn't played a full season in almost 2 years.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.
