Time To Move John Abraham?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Fri Mar 14, 2008 6:56 pm

Should we consider moving John Abraham on draft day? I don't expect the upcoming season to be a good one for Atlanta, so at this point, I have no problem moving guys like Abraham and DeAngelo Hall for potential picks.

Thoughts?

It seems like we gave up a 2nd round pick for Abraham two years ago from the Jets (Jets first wanted Schaubb.)

What is he worth 2 years later at 30 ? Abraham is a 260 lb DE who struggles vs. the run.......but can blitz like few others. Maybe we could still get a 2nd rounder for him. (Abraham really resembles the DE out of OSU)

If we trade him, now is the time where some really good DE are at the top of the draft.

Hall probably has more value b/c he has no injury history and is still just 25 or so.........many teams will look past Hall's character issues and chalk it up to all the dissarray around franchise the last year.

Shut down corners are so hard to come by. I would keep Hall if he gets along with the new coaches........unless a QB drops farther then they are supposed to an Hall is traded for the pick to get the QB Dimitrioff likes.

So yes.....I would trade either one of them for a high enough pick.

I'd actually like to hold on to Abraham.

I don't mind trading him. If we can get a second rounder out of the deal I would do it. A complete face life of the team is needed, and Abraham will be 30 when the season starts. He is making a ton of money and kills our cap space. Releasing him shouldn't be an option to clear some cap, but trading him should be.

We also gave up the 29th pick for him.
