If Carolina becomes convinced it can't re-sign Julius Peppers, who becomes an unrestricted free agent next year and wants a boatload of money, and if the Vikings are willing to part with their first-round (No. 17) draft pick next month plus at least $20 million in guaranteed money, Minnesota might be able to trade for the star defensive end.

The Vikings, who were nearly $37 million under the NFL's salary cap until their recent free-agency spending, are still $18.6 million under the cap.

hmmmmmm should we do it?

Last year's 17th pick made 1.7 mill. That would be a pill to swallow economically but would definitely make the pass rush and pass D greatly improved.
